  • Chicken Recommendation

    I am someone that cannot cook raw meat. I'm pretty much a vegetarian because of that. I went to The Fresh Market and they had rotisserie chicken made with tons of different seasonings. I found a 'natural' one and then I found one that is garlic, butter, salt, and thyme. It was delicious! I know all those things are on my "usually ok" column, so I tried it! Wonderful! Give it a shot to those that don't cook, don't have time, struggle with the diet, etc. I asked if they used anything else and they said "no".

    Hope this helps someone! I know I'm struggling with this diet too!

    I have come to the conclusion everything I eat kills my bladder, some things less then others.. I am so glad you posted about the chicken. It seems to be the meat of choice around here... oh correction the meat of IC friendly choice.

      Current treatments:
      -IC diet
      -Elavil 50mg at night
      -Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
      -Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills at night 3-4x per week, more often if needed
      -Pyridium if needed,
      -Pain medicine at bedtime daily, as needed during the day several times per week
      -Antibiotic when doing an instillation to prevent UTI
      -Colace & SmartFiber to treat chronic constipation from meds, Fleet enema as needed
      -Dye Free Benadryl 50 mg at bedtime
      -"Your Pace Yoga: Relieving Pelvic Pain" dvd, walking, treadmill at gym
      -Managing stress= VERY important!
      -Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!

        I'm sorry that everything seems to hurt your bladder. I am in the same situation, but I have found some things to darn near kill me (Tylenol being the worst, then tea, then chocolate, then my multi-vitamin, and a few others). I'm just trying to stick to a bland bland bland diet... but oatmeal is getting old now... (but I just realized tonight my syrup I put in it has some things on the "usually problematic" list. Why didn't I see it before! I've been eating it every day for over a month (could even be 6 weeks now). I asked Kadi and she said "stop the syrup!!!" It's already in the trash.

        A lot of people told me that it was worst at first. That they thought everything was terrible for their bladder, but then meds and treatments started to help and they realized they could eat more than they thought. I hope that is the case for both of us!

        I posted about the chicken because I have a major issue with cooking meat myself and that is why I'm pretty much a vegetarian. When I saw this today and it looked so good... and with IC friendly seasoning... I was very excited! It was really moist and flavorful too! They had some other things like chicken rolls with spinach and feta inside (no tomato sauce). All you have to do is throw it in the oven to cook the chicken! I thought maybe I can handle that sometime!

          Foods hurt the bladder

          I didn't scan to see how long you've had IC and everything hurt your bladder but for a ray of hope: EVERYTHING hurt my bladder four about four months when I came out of remission and I was scared it would stay that way. But, since it was coming out of remission I knew diet had helped before so I just stuck to it and stuck to it, and avoided even things on the usually OK list if they seemed to add to my agony.

          Again, it took about 4 months but then I did start to get relief and did get to begin distinguishing foods that allowed me to be OK and those that irritated.

          So, maybe you might benefit from being really strict for about six months to see if it doesn't just take time for your angry bladder to calm down. It's only a gamble based on my personal experience. I know we are all different but I honestly would have thought diet made no difference if this had been my first time with IC (when I came out of remission) and would have never thought to keep trying after a month!

          Here's to relief HOWEVER you find it! :-)
