  • Flare from Veggies?

I notice that every time I eat steamed veggies (especially broccoli) and a raw salad with veggies (with just olive oil as dressing) I go into a terrible flare immediately after (or even during) I eat it. Anyone know what this is about?

    Thanks.

I had a similar experience a few months ago. I figured out that it was the stem of the broccoli that was bothering me, as opposed to the florets, so I now throw away the stem instead of trying to use it. I don't know what you put in your salad, but I have a hard time eating greens other than kale or spinach. They all burn my tongue like crazy. Hope this helps.

That's funny, I smoked up until August of last year and prior to smoking I seemed to get sinus infections all the time. When I started smoking I actually got them less often! I could never understand how smoking seemed to stop me from getting sick as often. I am happy I quit now that I know about my bladder and how bad smoking is for my bladder but sometimes when I'm really stressed I still think about having a cig.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)
