  • Question about Yoghurt???

I know that Yoghurt is on the no no list, and I havent had any since been diagnosed with IC. Please tell me why we can not eat it?? Is it the acid content in the yoghurt???? I know you have to be careful about the fruit yoghurts. today I found plain organic yoghurt that does not contain any acids nor preservatives, I also found plain organic goats milk yoghurt. has anyone tried plain yoghurt?? what are your thoughts?

I eat Dannon Light and Fit yogert every morning for breakfast and it doesn't bother me at all. It's low fat/low sugar. I eat either the peach or the strawberry ones but it does come in just vanilla too. Roxie

Plain organic full fat yoghurt doesn't upset my bladder - I often have it for breakfast.

Yogurt flares me, but I'm very very diet sensitive.
Try a small amount without trying anything else new that day.
You might try one of the mild ones like Yobaby vanilla or an organic brand without artificial colors or sweeteners.

I would think then that it would have to be preservatives or something. But I eat Yami and it's not organic and I'm fine. I'd probably be better with organic or homemade. I have a starter for homemade I keep saying I'm going to make but never do. It's made with whole heavy cream, so I know it has to taste good.

I have not eaten yogurt in a long while, but stoneyfields is organic, and the plain yogurt made with the whole milk is sooooo goood. I may try it again in a very small amount just to see how it does on my bladder.

Yogurt is fermented. That is why it is on the usually problematic list along with aged cheeses and wine, and beer, etc.

I haven't tried any, but I used to eat it daily. I had pain then. When I follow the IC diet to a T, I don't flare from foods.

If I stray one iota, I flare.

The only differance with Organic verus other foods, is that the cow are not feed hormons. Just as if you buy organis foods, means it has not been given any chemicals to help it grow, or to keep bugs off from it.They use menuer instrad of other fertilizers.
So if your body is responding to regualr foods, and not the organic, chances are that the ,cows with hormonal injections and what ever else they pump them full of, your body is responding to that. Even though of course milk get pasturized, I have no idea if 100% of that gets filtered out,but my guess is that it doesnt.

Well, it's more than just that. Most of the time if you buy organic, the company will also not use additives and preservatives as well and those can be what cause you to flare. I know they do me.

I just made homemade yoghurt this weekend and it was fabulous! It was made with organic culture from a company called Yo'gourmet that freeze dries the cultures. They have two options for preparation. The first is with milk which makes regular yoghurt (and I'm sure you could use soy, rice milk, almond, etc also) and the second is called Creme Bulgare which is made with cream and is just scrumptious!!! It's rich and slightly sweet, not sour at all! I put just a touch of honey over it and I could eat this stuff all day! It didn't make me flare at all and I had to pull my mom off of it. LOL! I almost didn't get it back when I gave her a taste. So I've decided homemade is the only way to go.

I basically have decided to cook/bake everything from scratch from here on out since everything else is suspect and could cause flares and costs so much to purchase anyway. My family has basically gone vegan anyhow and it's becoming more and more clear that eating as close to the way nature made it is the best way to stay flare free.
