  • Need Sports Drink

I've recently started running training... hopeful to complete my first (half) marathon in June! There are some obstacles to running when you have IC!
Staying hydrated is very important. My coach understands that running stimulates my bladder and drinking oodles of water only makes it worse.
So, I'm looking for a drink that can replenish electrolytes and help me with my hydration needs that packs more of a punch per ounce than water.
Is there a sports drink that someone has tried that is bladder friendly?
I, personally, am very sensitive to citric acid. I can't eat popsicles or drink any fruit juices even if I take a couple of Prelief. Normally Prelief works on other foods for me though, just not "fruity flavored things".
I'm not very familiar with vitamin waters, sports drinks, etc. Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't know the exact recipe, but you can actually make your own. And it's supposed to be better than the Gatorades, etc. I'll try to google it for you. I saw it on Dr Oz (?) or something. Good luck on your half marathon!! What an accomplishment!!

      1 qt water
      1/3 c. Sugar
      1/4 tsp table salt
Juice flavoring of your choice (I'd pick blueberry or pear)

There's other options but that's the basic recipe.

oh awesome! Dr Oz is so cool...
that seems easy enough... and super cheap. when i really really need juice i can get my fix with Gerber Pear juice so I can use that for the drink.
ill give it a try tomorrow.
        thanks!

Let me know how it is, ok? I have a tendency to dehydrate quickly but I've just never tried it and hadn't thought of it til you asked!! You'll be my test bunny
