Hi all, my symptoms have been improving quite a bit so I wanted to test some of the low acid coffees. I've been really dragging lately and needed a pick me up. I tried puroast for a little while with lots of milk and a few preliefs and it felt fine for a few days and then started to kind of bug me. By "bug" I mean slightly increased frequency, no pain or anything like that. I read that it was 50% acid reduced, and was wondering if any of you have had any luck with Euromild/Tylers/Kava etc which might have even less acid. I'm gonna give my bladder a break and not attempt anything for a week or so and try again with something else, any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Hi there. It may not be the acidity alone that causes you problems. Most IC patients have a problem with caffeine whether or not it is in a low acid product. Everyone is different though.Julie Beyer, MA, RDN

We got an espresso machine for Christmas and I've been using Pureroast decaf to make lattes for me. I use lots of foamy milk in it and am really enjoying it. So far no problem with it that way --- I don't have it every day, but it's a real treat.
Euromild is a favorite of mine too.

I have been using Hevla low acid coffee, wonderful and it comes in flavors. Even though it is reduced acid I still take 2 prelief with it and that seems to do the trick, have you tried that? I also mix 2/3rds decaf and 1/3 regular so I get a little caffeine but not so much it will bother my bladder much.
Ironically I tried switching to caffix and roastaroma and those herbs in the roastaroma, or the chicory or something actually gave me bladder pain/spasms an hour after I drank it. It happened each time I tried it so I'm back to the "mostly" decaf Hevla.Cindi
Gelnique for frequency/urgency - works great
Macrobid after sex
Prilosec, continuous birth control pills
synthroid .088mg, mucinex-d, restasis
Supplements: Desert Harvest Aloe vera, Cysta-q, prelief, magnesium and calcium, Vit D, flaxseed oil
Diag Mild IC Jan 11 but have had symptoms for 25 years. Also have GERD, TMJ, IBS-C, chronic dry eye syndrome, hashimotos thyroiditis, non-allergic rhinitis.

Where did you find Hevla? The only low acid coffee that I have found in stores are Kava. I tried Kava, Euromild and Puroast and it didn't agree with me. I also have acid reflux disease too. I tried teeccino and pero and ugh!In memory of my beloved best friend in the whole world! Timmy (West Highland White Terrier)

Unfortunately you have to order it on-line though it usually comes pretty quick. Its expensive like 10.99 a bag or something like that but I usually order a bunch at once to save on shipping. I have tried the hazelnut, french vanilla, cinnamonut and chocolate almond (thats about the only one I wasn't thrilled with), they come in regular or decaf.
I have acid reflux disease too so the low acid coffees are good for that too.Cindi
