I, too, am doing the strict diet, as my symptoms are just crazy outta control. When I first started I thought I could "cheat" and would have decaf coffee. But everytime I did I had SO much urethral pain that I realized right now, it's just not worth it. I drink Roastaroama tea in the mornings. It's NOT coffee but it's hot and I put cream in it and I'm really kind of getting used to it!
My hurdle for today is chili. We had an ice/snow deal last night (like half the country, it seems) and my husband is (as I TYPE) making a HUGE pot of chili. I know I can't have any but it smells SO good!!! I'm going to make a pan of cornbread and I may eat the whole thing. BY MYSELF!!! It's going to be a very long day!!!
Thanks, Lisa and Katie for your feedback and the welcome! I've been off the yogurt, just to be safe, but maybe after my 30 "strict" days I'll try the greek yogurt and see. I appreciate your thoughts and wish you both the best.
How long have you both been doing the diet and do you find that you can handle "treats" once in a while? I do miss coffee, even decaf.
Sorry you had to find us this way but I'm glad you're here!! Personally, I can't eat any kind of yogurt. My own opinion is, if you don't know and you're trying to do the diet strictly for 30 days, then maybe you should give it up for a while and see how you feel. BUT...that's just my opinion!!!
I hope you're feeling better soon and hopefully your yogurt is ok for you. I know how hard it is to give up things you love and eat everyday!!
I haven't tried the goat milk yogurt yet, but I have found that I can handle Greek yogurt without any problems. Greek yogurt is made differently and seems to be less acidic. The taste isn't as tart as "regular" yogurt. More over it is silky smooth and creamy. I mix honey in mine and feel like I'm eating dessert for breakfast!
I think it boils down to what they use in the process of making the yogurt. If you get yours from a farmer's market, maybe you can ask them.
I'm new to the forum and am grateful to find such a supportive, resourceful group!
I've had IC for a long time but have never been rigorous about the diet. I'm going through a bad flare-up and my doctor wants me to follow the diet religiously for 30 days, and I have questions after reading the list of safe foods, the most immediate being: is plain goat milk yogurt considered "bladder friendly?" I eat it every day and want to know if it's okay to keep that in the picture this month.
