    Tea vs. Capsules

I tried the capsules and it didn't seem to do much for me, so I'm wondering if there is a difference between the capsules and the tea. Has anyone tried both and noticed anything?

There's marshmallow root in the Throat Coat tea I drink (which also contains licorice root) and that seems to help me immensely when I do have a flare.

You can usually find it at health food stores but I usually order mine on-line through amazon. Just make sure to mix it with another "good" tea as its pretty nasty by itself.

Who is IMOM? Where do you get marmallow root tea? Asian grocery stores? Herbal place?

That does happen to me sometimes too so now I keep a bag of halves by my bed and if I still have another four hours to sleep then I take a half instead of lying awake for 2 hours before falling back to sleep! Well anyways, worth a shot.

Actually since I started taking vesicare it is making me tired enough I haven't needed it. I don't feel groggy or anything, just sleeping better.
Also, chamomile tea is thought to help you sleep better and I have to admit sometimes I drink a cup of it mixed with something else while watching tv and I'll practically fall asleep on the couch at 9 at night.

Thank you to everyone. This is good news to me. I bought some marshmallow root tea and peppermint tea and will try it as soon as I get over this UTI, I have right now. I am excited to try it. I will update you after a week or so of trying it. Yes, I have tried melotonin and it worked for a while, but then I was waking up after 4 hours of sleep and couldn't get another wink in. I may try it again soon to see if it helps some more.
You guys are so wonderful to have as a support group!

smilesplease - On another topic but I saw that you have insomnia. Have you tried melatonin to help with your insomnia? Just thought I'd mention it as it helps me sleep through the night. I neve have problems falling asleep though it helps with that too, my problem is when I wake up around 3 or 4am to go to the bathroom I often have a really hard time falling back asleep. Its much easier when I consistently take melatonin before bedtime. It gives me really vivid dreams but I kinda like that since they aren't bad dreams.
My doctor even has me give it to my 12 year old on Sunday nights as she will often lay awake until midnight and end up in tears because she can't fall asleep. Since giving her melatonin that problem is totally gone.

I love Marshmellow Root tea! I get it at the health food store in loose leaf form along with peppermint tea leaves. I mix it in a tea ball half and half and drink it straight. It is refreshing and it does have a duretic effect which I happen to like because I tend to hold fluid and I'm always in the bathroom anyway so what to heck I may as well have somthing to void. I think of it like a natural instant elmiron. I hate taking medication so this is a fantastic option for me. I hope you get the relief I do from it. I found it worked straight away but I have to wonder because I started taking it about two weeks after hydrodistention so maybe it's a coincidence but I intend on keeping it up. I keep it at work and at home and like to have one or two cups a day.
Good luck I think it's a God send!

P.S. It is slimey to touch (but not in your mouth) so you can see how it would immediately help sooth the bladder.

I liked it, I feel it helped me. Start with just a small amount and work your way up (very important) I too, added honey. It's worth a try.

Good luck, and let us know.

Bob loves it, we buy it bulk, just got 15 lbs of the stuff. We cram it in an electric percolator we just got for that it perks it within minutes. I will usually leave half of the brewed junk and add more fresh for the next batch. (It is a little slimey but apparently that is the good stuff, or so they say). A touch of honey and cream and it's not bad. Also may try a cinnamon stick in there or a vanilla bean. Bob does find it very soothing, whether it actually helps or not who knows, but it makes him feel better. Jill, wife of Bob

I throw a bag of it in with my peppermint and chamomile tea every day but honestly not sure it does much for me. Like other supplements I keep taking it in the hopes its doing something for me!

Some feel it helps, but it's a diuretic and I'm already taking a diuretic for blood pressure so not for me. I really don't like taking diuretics, but it seems to be the only way to keep my BP at an acceptable level. I just stay at home most mornings so it will have a chance to get somewhat out of my system.
