    Re: Avocado -conflicting information

Thanks, for the thoughts. I have tried that before. But I don't know if its because of stress in my life or something but I always end up getting flares. And the thing is I am a very busy person and when I try something new on a day I am working and taking classes, its uncomfortable. But yes I do agree with you that this would work. I guess what I will need to do is buckle down and work harder at this. I am not creative at all and so I've wanted to buy an IC cookbook but I have a feeling there are lots of recipes I can't have anyway so it would be a waste of money. I've found out I can not have eggs or dairy. That is a definite. Thanks so much for taking the time out to respond.

So basically for a long time now I have been eating mainly yam with a green vegetable with turkey or chicken....It is getting tiring eating the same thing but I am afraid because every time I try a new "safe" food it ends up not working for me.
I do have a suggestion: If you print out the food list, then start adding foods from the bladder friendly list, one at a time, you should be able to find some additional items you can have with no problem. If you add only one or two foods at a time and give each addition several days to react, hopefully you'll come up with a more balanced diet.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

    BrizaThanks
I think I am like you in the big ones being the biggest offenders. Long ago I noticed that carbonated bevs, too many tomatoes and flavored waters were not good for me so I dropped them. Then last year I noticed every time I drank cocoa my bladder "bugged" me, and then "tea" ...it started becoming easier to figure out which things bothered me as I respond rapidly, within an hour or two to something bad. Beverages are much worse for me then food other then my much beloved yogurt that I've had to give up. Now that I have finally dropped coffee I am feeling that much better. My withdrawal headache seems to be subsiding after 48 hours. I am hoping its gone by tomorrow.
My husband talked me into eating pizza for lunch today and a salad. I picked the tomatoes and cranberries out of my salad and ate the small pizza with 3 prelief and was fine. I think just being really aware of what I'm ingesting is helping and I write down any new food I try.

I don't believe avocados are citrus. I eat them with no problem and citrus fruits are definitely not okay for me.

The diet on the ICN is the newly revised diet. I would go with the suggestions on the site. The first diet I was given said eggs could cause trouble....????

started a topic Avocado -conflicting information

    Avocado -conflicting information

So I have been reading The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide and glanced at the diet section and it shows avocado as a food that will make symptoms worse yet the diet on the ic-network shows avocado as bladder friendly. I eat avocado almost every day, probably about 1/2 of one so now I'm confused??
Working...
