Are there any vegetarians or vegans strictly following the IC diet? My doctor wants me to follow the diet VERY strictly until my symptoms improve, but I feel so limited! I can't eat a single one of my regular recipes, and everything is so bland without spices, salad dressing, vinegar, and soy sauce. What do you eat?
Medications and Supplements:
BladderQ
Pyridium
D-Mannose powder
Cranmax
Lifestyle:
Lacto-ovo-vegetarian and IC diet
Meditation
Positive mental attitude!
Yeah, regardless if you are vegetarian or a meat eater the diet does tend to be pretty bland. That seems to be kind of necessary to get the bladder calmed down. But it's a means to an end--hopefully the fact that the diet can help you to feel better will make it a little easier to work with? It takes some compromise, that's for sure!
Hopefully later on you can start adding foods back in. It's possible that once you get your symptoms under control with diet and treatments that you might be able to have some of the offending foods occasionally in small amounts.
