  • Dizziness - ugh

As I mentioned before I was diagnosed with allergies to wheat, dairy, egg, beef, lamb, mustard, and a few beans. I went off of those things about a month ago and I was doing good except for my bladder had a total flare (which lead me to this board). So, I started the IC diet which had me eliminating even more food. I have lost about 5 lbs since I started it. I also went on Elmiron which is supposed to make you dizzy.

For the past week I have been soooo dizzy and a bit lethargic and my blood pressure has been soo low... today it was 88/54. I also have always had low blood pressure but is normaly at 105/60 ish. I didn't take the Elmiron today b/c I was it was to blame. I have increased my sodium today to try to counter that and I got some vitamins recommended for low blood pressure. I bought iron, B complex, and magnesium. I also still take daily vitamin.

My questions is has anyone who switched their diet SOOO much as I have in the past month gotten really dizzy or do you think it's the Elmiron? My diet 2 months ago was soda, maybe fast food twice a week, lots of bread, read meat, all dairy, veggies, fruits, and lots of chocolate. Now I eat (b/c of food allergies and ic diet) it is fresh fruit for breakfast and maybe some oats or oatmeat type stuff, lunch is fresh turkey, maybe some chips or nuts, more fruit, maybe a veggie, and dinner is fresh fish or poultry with rice and a few types of veggies. I might have a rice krispie treat for dessert. I know this is a drastic change, but I am thinking I may have become deficient in some vitamins?? Thoughts?

It might be a good idea to get in touch with a dietician or nutritionist. I know I don't feel quite the same as I did before the IC diet. I don't think I'm getting enough vit C due to the fruit restrictions. I used to eat all the fruits and get a little tired now of just pears and blueberries. I also used to take a multi B complex but have now limited it to B12 and B1. I'm very sensitive to diet changes and even a minor one throws me off. I haven't noticed getting dizzy but I have noticed not having as much energy. There's a book here in the ICN store that may help on nutrition for the IC diet.

I had some salty food and it went up. So I am almost back to normal. I will be seeing my dr early this week and I will have to bring it up then, thanks for advice! I feel better now

I was quite dizzy the first week I went on the diet as well. I am sure my blood pressure was wonky as well from time to time. For me I think it was a lack of caffeine/sodas since that's such a high level of sugar. Even the 'desserts' we can have pale in comparison sugar wise unless you were eating them morning, noon, and night. I think my body was just in shock over the changes.

I also had a really poor diet especially the last month before I was diagnosed. Also fast food which I was eating way too much of has a lot of sugar/salt compared to our diet options. I am thinking it's more the diet over the Elmiron (also in my case) becase once I had a few potato chips or some ice cream I coul feel my sugar/salt levels coming back to normal.
