  • Triple Check Those Labels!!!!

I just want to put a friendly reminder out there to triple check all your food labels! I've been following the IC diet for 2 years now and it helps me tremendously. Over the summer I discovered a frozen yogurt from Trader Joe's. It's just completely plain, tangy, no sugar added, fat-free yogurt that's been frozen. I think that because it was supposed to be just plain yogurt I must have not looked at the label that closely. I've been eating this stuff like every other day for months now! For some reason last night when I went to dish out a mug full I turned the container around and saw that it has Citric Acid AND Ascorbic Acid!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! I've been flaring off and on all summer and here I thought it was stress related! So like I said, please take a moment and triple check the labels of any packaged foods you may be eating, even if it's something as simple as plain yogurt Hope this saves someone from making the same mistake I did!
    Symptoms began at age 19.
    Diagnosed at age 27.

My symptoms include pressure, frequency, painful urgency, burning, and low back pain.

I also have IBS, Candida, and Adrenal Fatigue.

I am very diet sensitive. I've known about my IC for over two years now and I'm still trying to figure out what I can and cannot eat.

Having IC can be devastating. It has given me depression, hopelessness, and anxiety that can make every day tasks daunting. My supportive husband, prayer, and my faith in God keep me going each day

    triple check the labels

    Hi,
Thanks for the post. Good reminder.
Can you eat regular yogurt as well as frozen? For me, that's in the no-no column.

I'm a label reader! There seem to be additives in everything.

As am I, a label checker. It takes a while at the market, but better to be safe then sorry.

I can eat Greek yogurt with out a problem, and I add fresh fruit to it.

I too can eat yogurt. I usually buy Fage or the Trader Joe's Greek yogurt. It only has like two ingredients unlike the frozen yogurt
