  • Nature's Path Organic Pumpkin Flax Granola

Today I tried something new because I notice that if I eat a bread with flax seeds in it I seem to feel a little better. I don't believe in flax seed supplements because the caps are 1000mg and they want you to take 6 a day. Julie Beyer linked to something that convinced me that too much flax could cause problems we don't want. Nature didn't intend for your body to get 6000mg of Flax seed oil a day but I believe that a little bit in our bread/cereal will be okay and healthy.

    Here's what I ate today:

"Nature’s Path Organic" Flax plus .... Pumpkin Flax Granola. Ingredients: Rolled oats, evaporated cane juice, soy oil, br. Rice flour, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, oat syrup solids, (oat syrup solids, tocopherols) sea salt, molasses, cinnamon.
    It tasted good.

I personally avoid soy like it's the devil so I'm going to write, email or call the company and ask them to remove the soy oil for the IC population. I don't do well with cinnamon either but it is the last ingredient and I didn't taste any.

My husband found this at a regular Safeway store.

We keep hearing about pumpkin seeds and their extract so he was watching for that.

He thinks I don't eat enough and wants me to try breakfast.

So I did and now it's going on 7:00 PM and I'm not hungry. It may be my only meal of the day.

Will I flare from it? How would I know anymore? My pain levels are too high to know these days but I can say I don't feel any worse.

    Thanks Everyone!!!

I don't do well with any boxed cereals that contain BHA or BHT. And oatmeal absolutely destroys me because I'm food sensitive to it… so it wouldn't be one that I would try.

For breakfast, I tend to do Ezekiel Bread toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns or an omelette… or gluten free pancakes! Any of those sound good to you??

I'm very fortunate that I can have oatmeal and I have it frequently. I like it with a bit of 2% milk, brown sugar, and a sprinkling of nutmeg. My favorite breakfast is hash browns with an over-easy egg.
