I know this has been around for awhile. But was looking thru the different recipes for breads/muffins and I saw this. We are going to have a bake sale at work for the SECC (fund raiser that we have every year.)
any way looks easy. I will test on family and if it doesn't look good or taste good---then I will just go to the store on Friday morning and pick something up!

Cheddar Cheese Scones
I made these the other day and I loved them. SOOOOOO GOOOOOD!
Easy to make!
CHEDDAR SCONE
2 cups flour
¼ cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder(other spices as desired I also use Basil,Oregano)
¼ cup cold butter
1 cup, plus ¼ cup grated cheddar cheese(or use Mozzarella if can't tolerate cheddar)
1 egg, beaten until frothy
2/3 cup milk
In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and garlic powder. Add butter and cut in until crumbly using two knives or your hands. Add grated cheese and stir until well mixed.
Make a well in centre. Pour egg and milk into well. Using a fork stir in flour gradually to make a soft dough. Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead 8 to 10 times. Divide into 2 equal parts and pat each into 6" circle. Transfer to a greased baking sheet and brush tops with milk. Sprinkle with ¼ cup grated cheese. Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 15 min.
Try your own variations using herbs, different cheeses or even fruit.Tags: None
