WOW! You have been through a lot! I'm glad you're doing well now. Being a grandma is the greatest gift of all.

Thanks for responding --- it's great to hear from you.

    Hi Donna,

I have been well since my bladder was removed due to bladder cancer in 2016 and then my bout with breast cancer in 2017. Since I no longer have a sensitive bladder (mine was caused by bladder cancer, not IC), I no longer have diet restrictions so I eat whatever I want. I think back to the pain, suffering, dietary and lifestyle changes I went through for over 2 years and get annoyed that it was all due to a misdiagnosis. It turned out alright for me in the end and my life is actually pretty darned good all things considered. I do have an abdominal hernia right under my stoma that may need some surgical attention. When you've had surgery between your pelvis and your chest, hernias are not uncommon. Mine doesn't hurt but it seems to have gotten bigger which is a bit concerning. I see my urologist for my annual exam in February so will see what he says. My grandson is 5 yrs old now and is the light of my life. After taking care of him full-time for the first 2 years of his life, I only take care of him 2 days a week now and he's in pre-school the other 3 days. He'll start kindergarten next fall.

Since I don't have IC, I don't hang out here anymore but every now and then I pop in. I still have tons of recipes and hopefully, someone can benefit from my experience. I hope you and others I used to converse with are doing well!

Thank you! How are you doing?

Oh, I'm not sure, but I usually just leave that out.

I made some for dinner last night --- delicious! I'm an unusual IC patient --- garlic bothers me, but I tolerate cooked onion --- so I used onion in the recipe.

How much garlic do you use in place of the onion?
    Thanks!

    Shepherd's Pie

I've made this one a couple times and it's great. The only adjustment I make to it is to use garlic instead of onions.
