Hello just wondering what kinds of sandwich meats are ok with the IC diet? Is Boars head meat ok i know it doesn't have any preservitives.
    Any thoughts

I think anything preservative free is good. Applegate Farms makes quite a few too. Also Trader Joes's has some preservative free already cooked bacon thats quite good.

I am ok with Dietz & Watson turkey. I have also been ok with other turkey & also ham. But I stay away from things like salami, pepperoni, etc. But when I first tried it back into my diet, I started with a little bit first. I was also very strict for at least a year & made sure I was on a good treatment plan & not flaring when I tried things.

Hormel Naturals Roast Beef or Oven Roasted Turkey are fine for me.
I'm also ok with Trader Joe Nitrate free Oven Roasted Turkey.
At the fresh deli counter at Safeway I can get Primo Taglio Roast Beef or Dinner Roast Turkey & have not had trouble with those either.

I am ok with meat that is Nitrate/Nitrite free. Make sure to read all the ingredients even if you buy it from a healthfood store. I noticed that even at the healthfood store some have nitrates.

            Tried:
Detrol:only took one pill and it made me sick
            Elmiron:caused horrible pain(took 1 week)
CystaQ:caused alot of burning and pain(only took one pill)
Wellbutrin:only on it for three days as it caused alot of bladder pain
Elavil:Took one pill and it caused a flare that lasted almost two weeks. It was the longest flare I've ever had. Never again..ouch
Prelief:made my bladder burn and feel tingly.

            Take:
            Uracyst:Started May 19 2011
Enablex:take one pill daily with no issues
            Naproxen:for pain as needed
Baking Soda with water:as needed and it's a God send. It brings down my pain within 20 mins.
Venofer: Started April 2012 by IV for low Iron. I do not tolerate oral Iron so this is the route I had to take.Does not bother my bladder but did have other side effects. I take Benedryl with each treatment to avoid side effects.
            Supplements:Whey Protein powder daily
Dessert Harvest Aloe It has been helping alot but I can only take it every two days as my "die off" reaction has been severe.

I cannot seem to handle any turkey breast even if it is nitrate/nitrite free. I also flare up with prosciutto even though the Trader Joe's brand is nitrate free and is only ham and salt. I do seem to be OK with Trader Joe's uncured nitrate free bacon though.

Sasapippi I would check the turkey breast ingredient list sometimes it can be smoked or a spice they add to it that is bothering you.

I have heard that some IC patients can't tolerate any type of turkey due to the tryptophan in it, so if there are no other potentially irritating ingredients in your turkey meat, that may be the problem...

A lot of Boars Head has potassium although some do not. I have been eating the Hickory Smoked Chicken.

Boar's Head meats are 100% pure. Dietz and Watson claim to be the same, also. Both have never given me any problems. Whole Foods Stores have preservative free meats/chicken/turkey that you have buy from behind the counter to order. Turkey is 100% sodium free and all have never given me any problems.
Trader's Joe's chicken/turkey all have preservatives and flare me up.
                            good luck!

The plainer Boar's Head meats tend to work for me, like low sodium turkey, honey turkey and chicken. But, most other lunch meats tend to cause me to flair. Wish I had a trader joes close by but, I make due with Boar's head.
