Carole, these sound so interesting! Can I come live with you so I can try all this stuff? Its so way above my abilities! LOL
    symptoms when in a flare:

I feel everything in my urethra but I know its really my bladder. Pressure, stinging, urgency, tingling feeling thats hard to describe.
*I have a fibroid on my uterus near my bladder.

    Medication
100mg Amitripyline ( I have seriously gained almost 50lbs on this drug but I feel it works)
    Flexoril 10mg (doesn't work)
    Hydrocodone 5/325 PRN
Cetalopram 40mg *severe anxiety over flare

Physical therapy hasnt really helped but I love her! I've learned so much! She states that my muscles around
    My urethra are very tight.

currently seeing a Gyn in my town and a Uro in Seattle (4 hrs away)

I have had lots of long term remissions. Currently been struggling with good & bad days since Jan 2012

LOL. There was a lady who was making and selling nomato sauce on the internet. I tried to sell it but she didn't have computers set up to distribute it to resellers and the bottles were heavy. You could try searching for it!

bjcov/Brandy you are funny..lol if you lived near me I could help you make it. It sounds way more complicated than what it is. It's really doesn't take that much time.
I noticed you mentioned that in your profile that your anxiety goes up when you get a flare like you think it will never go away. I'm the same way. I get all this anxiety and it also increases my depression. It makes me feel really defeated. I think it is not only psychological but physiological. Sorry for your anxiety but glad to know I'm not alone.

I added a big spoon full of herbed cream cheese and shredded parmesan(if can tolerate) to this sauce and it was amazing! It tasted way better than any jarred or restaurant sauce.

From what I understand, you can't taste the beets in the sauce once it's made.

You can't taste the beets at all!

                    Re: Nomato Marinara Sauce

Carole, congrats on recipe of the month! I made it for my family last night served with quinoa spaghetti and they all loved it. It is crazy good! I'm going to send it to my IC friends. I made it pretty much exactly as you said except that I used extra chopped garlic cloves in place of the garlic powder, and I used prune juice instead of pear juice because I already had some on had. I packed some leftovers in my husband's lunch along with more spaghetti noodles, an extra sausage, and some spinach and he said it was the best lunch I ever packed him, ha ha. Thank you so much!!
Diagnosed Nov 2012 after birth of my daughter. I feel like IVF hormone injections triggered my debilitating IC symptoms, but that I had it mildly even before that and didn't realize it.

Currently taking daily: probiotics, licorice root, vitex, vitaminB12, thyraxis, D3, Calcium/Magnesium, permeability factors, digestive enzymes. Nightly castor oil packs on my abdomen. I follow the IC diet, anti-inflammatory diet, gluten and dairy-free (most of the time), with as much organic, local food as possible.

My approach is to try to get to the root of the problem, which according to everything I've read, is probably centered in the gut (read, chronic constipation my whole adult life). I have a list of things to try and keep checking things off my list. My inspiration has been Wendy Cohan's Better Bladder Book.

prisd I know it's crazy to think that those ingredients would taste so good together and taste like marinara. I made it last week and I added a heaping tablespoon of herb and garlic cream cheese and it was amazing. I missed spaghetti so much and the first time I made this I almost cried. I'm so glad you all loved it so much.

I made this for dinner tonight. The last time I had real spaghetti with marinara/meat sauce was well over a year ago. The only change I may make next time is to use a little less pepper over all. But, man... is it good!!

Instead of red peppers I use butternut squash. It works great and for no carbs (or very little carbs) I use shirataki noodles.

You can just boil the squash, put it in the blender - add Italian spices and garlic, salt to taste and cook it in a pot over medium heat. Add the rinsed shirataki noodles and viola!

Just made this last night. It's a little sweet but all in all, a great substitute for tomato sauce. I made some pizza dough, too. Can't wait for a "real pizza" tonight!
