  • powder vs pills or both

I have been currently using the pills for years.. I can cheat so often with it, it is amazing.. I forgot it once.. cheated slightly and was in such a flare.. just a note.. the major bad foods.. nothing works.. even the prelief

anyway, I am running out of my bottle and was going to go online to order.. do any of you find the powder words better than the pills for certain things or all.. was wondering if I should order both or just get the pills..

    thanks in advance..

Hi, I just ordered the powder, I used it for 2 days now, I REALLY like it, I like the way it disolves in foods, I am waiting for my low acid coffee to get here so I am going to add it to that also and see if I can tolerate the coffee. I haven't used the pills since I got the powder, but I really like it so far. I think the powder is better for sprinkling over a meal, and I have heard it works on coffee and beverages, although I don't drink anything besides water, and occasionally baby pear organic juice. I wish I could say if it works better, but I am not to sure yet, I have both on hand.

I have only used the pills and they have worked great for me. I found a great website where you can buy bottles of the pills that are much larger than you can find in the store (300 pills per bottle) and the more of them you buy at once the more you save. One bottle of 300 is $18 which is pretty good considering a bottle of 120 or something in the store is $11. I'd be happy to give you the website if you want it, just PM me.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I have only ever used the powder, I also have used coffee tamer (thanks windwalker) in my coffee, you can add a couple packs right in the coffee grounds when you brew it.

I use both pills and powder...

but I think the powder actually works better because it goes directly onto the food. I sprinkle it on tomato sauce and can eat a moderate portion...or some pizza...with no problem. I sprinkle it directly on coffee before I brew it (I use a French press) and do the same with tea (I use loose tea) and sprinkle the Prelief directly on the tea before adding the water...The powdered Prelief was a break-through for me & the first time Prelief really began to help.

BTW, I also take Prelief as directed...2 pills at meals, extra when I have a glass of wine...

I have both the pills and the powder. My preference is the pills. I did try coffee tamer and it wouldn't dissolve and I had a huge flare.

              For me, Prelief is it!

Hi Bea, you can sprinkle it right on cooked food. That how I been using it and I think it works really well.

Hi Bea....I use the powdered on cooked AND uncooked food...for example, if I'm making something with tomato sauce, I use the powdered during the cooking process...if it's something like take-out pizza, I sprinkle it on the already-cooked food. Works well both ways IME.
BTW, my husband has no idea that it's in food I cook at home...no noticeable difference in taste at all....

I wonder if I sprinkle powder prelief in a glass of white zinfadel if I can get away with it? Anyone try something so daring?

Trixie: Don't put powdered Prelief in any alcoholic beverage --- it will fizz right over the top of the glass! I can vouch for the fact that it's embarassing at a party! I just put my glass in the middle of my plate and pretended it wasn't there!
