  • How much is too much?

How many Prelief tabs are safe to take in a day? Any side effects to watch out for? In my case, I find more is better...2 doesn't really do very much for me but 4 or even 8 really seem to help with foods I'm suspicious of. Also, is it OK to take Prelief without food when you begin to feel discomfort? I'd love some guidance about quantity...thanks, Betty.

I do that all the time and it does seem to help me.

You can't take too much. I do however get constipated if I take a lot.

        Hi!

Prelief is AkPharma's brand name for calcium glycerophosphate, an over-the-counter supplement that is taken with food and it takes the acid out of acidic foods and beverages. Some IC patients have advised me that they get nauseous if they take Prelief on an empty stomach, so I recommend taking a few bites of the food and then taking the Prelief.

Prelief has no use limitations except for people who have been advised by their doctor not to take calcium, phosphorus or glycerin/glycerol. There are no known adverse reactions and there is no known toxicity. Occasionally someone complains of constipation from Prelief. Prelief is calcium and calcium can be constipating to some people.

Our recommended dosage is to take at least 2 tablets with each meal and snack. More can be used when needed. It is almost impossible to take too much Prelief, in terms of safety or for any other reason. There is no practical limit to the amount of Prelief that can be taken although we suggest 30 or 40 tablets a day as a limit simply to "have a limit".

        I hope this helps..........

Prelief can be very beneficial. I am one of those people though that have to have a little food in my stomach or I will get very nauseous from it.
