  • acid in apples

    Hi Betty,
I am in NS and can't get Prelief but I was just visiting my home town in Que on the border and went to Newport to was able to get some...I am wondering if dried apples have as much acid in them as fresh???
I did not take any Prelief and was nibbling on them all day and was in agony by night..I sort of thought the acid would be gone when dried...
    Thanks.
Sure hope you have good luck getting Prelief into Canada..
    Love,Pam

    Dear Pam:

According to my pH list, dried fruit has the same pH as fresh fruit. (We recommend that you take at least 2 Prelief tablets with every meal and snack.)

    Hope this is helpful...

We are still working on getting Prelief into Canada and would surely like to see it available for the many IC patients there!

Thanks Betty. Boohoo= cause I have been eating the dried apples like candy and they are so good but been in a major flare.. I still have family on the border so they can always pop over and pick Prelief up for me and mail it..

This is a delayed reply but I am interested in knowing how you can get a pH list like Betty was talking about. That seems like it would be a helpful tool.

        Thanks!!!

Betty will answer this better- but www.prelief.com has a list with foods that have acid..one that shocked me was Ibuprofen.. I use that for aches and pains but trying tylenol instead now..

            Dear Val:

Our website (www.prelief.com) does contain a small
acid reduction chart and a list of common acidy
foods. You can also do an Internet search for 'Approximate pH of Foods and Food Products' which will pull up a comprehensive US Food and Drug Administration list.

            Hope this is helpful....

                  Yikes Joyce,
that seems odd because I think prelief is just calcium. Do tums cause the same problem? (Maybe its the acidic food now causing problems in the other end, I don't think prelief does much for that end). Just a thought, hope you feel better soon.
