  • Prelief is helping me

Though I stay on the IC diet I can eat a little fruit, figs, with Prelief and it helps quiet the IC. I speak from my own experience. I'm not a professional medical person but I am dealing with IC for over 20 years.

Prelief can be a real help. I wouldn't want to be without it.

I agree. And guess what? I can even drink tea when I take Prelief. Not often of course. I always have some in the house too.

        Re: Prelief is helping me

I bought some Prelief about a month ago but have been waiting for a craving that wouldn't go away before using it. I've been following the IC diet faithfully for 18 days but I've been craving a burrito with taco sauce in the worse way. I had some refried beans, shredded cheese, sour cream, flour tortillas, and some Old El Paso Medium taco sauce on hand and I just couldn't resist any more. I made one burrito and put one teaspoon of taco sauce on it. I took the Prelief, ate the burrito savoring every bite and have not had any bladder pain or a flare.

It's such a relief and a comfort to know that I can occasionally add some of the foods I love to my IC diet and not cause myself grief.

That's the same relief and comfort I feel (even though I am still afraid to try much). Anyway, your story reminded me of an incident a couple weeks ago. We had a lunch meeting at work, and the meal was ordered from a Mexican restaurant. I scrutinized the menu and ordered a corn tortilla (flour had sulfites), with beans (all meats were spiced), cheese, and lettuce only. I took one bite, and tasted quite a kick. I wondered if the lettuce was some kind of bitter green but realized that the beans were spiced! Who does that? The beans are just supposed to be plain boiled. That is why I got them! Due to the pressure of the situation, the fact I was starving, and the fact that I always have prelief with me; I took 2 and continued. It was so good. Almost felt surreal to eat like that. Drank plenty of water, and I was fine. Don't plan to make a habit of such things, but knowing this safety net exists is huge.

I got away with trying commercial taco sauce once using Prelief but the 2nd time I tried it.... I suffered. I took 2 Prelief before I ate it and 2 more after I ate it... and it provided no relief whatsoever. I finally looked at the label of the sauce to see what the heck was in it. Note to Self... next time read the label first. The only other difference was, the 2nd time I used a heaping teaspoon which may have put me over the edge.

Ingredients: Tomato Puree (water, tomato paste), water, salt, modified corn starch, sugar, distilled vinegar, spice, citric acid, garlic powder, chili pepper, onion powder, natural flavor.

You are right, that ingredient list doesn't sound too friendly. The increased quantity may have been the problem. Other than that, I don't know why the first time would be OK and later not. That happened to me with hot dogs. The first time no problem, the second time (no increase in quantity, no ketchup, mustard, etc.) not so great.

                  Re: Prelief is helping me

It's $12.99 for 120 tablets. You can buy it at the ICN Shop here: http://www.icnsales.com/prelief.html
But right now the site shows it's out of stock. You can have the site notify you when it's available, if you like.
If you don't want to wait, you can do a search for it on the Internet and find it available at some other places, too.

I've seen it a Walgreens (never any where else). I think it was $14 something.

Some Walgreens may carry it, but I know for sure that not all do. The one that I frequent does not. I asked them.

I'm happy that Prelief is helping people, but it's not a free ticket to eat and drink everything. I use it when I'm not certain about what's in a dish.

                          Warm hugs,
