    No thank you!

    It's no big deal they said....people do it all the time they said....so after 3 months of pain I finally relented and went for my first instill today. The nurse cleaned me and put in lidocain...OK so far so good. Then she started inserting the catheter and I SCREAMED. She said just relax because when you tense up it makes it harder for me to push it in...I'm biting my hand and thought "OK I can do this...go to my happy place..." Then she pushed more and "OUCH PULL IT OUT PULL IT OUT!" She said she can't make me do it so she quit and said she was sorry. I said no don't be sorry it's me I just can't do this. I read all you ladies do it all the time so it must be easier for you than a guy, smaller urethra and no prostate I guess. The good side of this is I've been much better the last 2 weeks so I'm not suffering now, I just was scared if it reoccurring and wanted to try an instill to make sure it's gone. Oh well I'll keep doing what's been working: Aloe Vera and Uribel...guess I'll have blue pee my whole life LOL.

    If you ever decide to try instillations again, please ask for a pediatric catheter. I don't know why catheters are so huge, but there are small ones made so it should be easier.

        I should have mentioned it in my other post, but one thing you can do is to practice relaxation techniques. What works for me is to concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply, and consciously relaxing my muscles. I practiced a lot at first, but now I can have a catheter inserted without any problem, even without lidocaine.

          The only caths I can stand are lofric. It is like night and day!!!! And when they go in, I try to pee, that helps me relax the right muscles.
          Current: -pelvic floor therapy, -weekly uracyst instills
