Had a bladder instillation on Wednesday afternoon and having problems peeing today

I had my third bladder instillation on Wednesday afternoon. I felt fine yesterday. I woke up this morning and the flow of the urine coming out is very slow and it feels like I'm definitely not emptying my bladder because I still feel like I need to go and when I sit back down on the toilet a little more comes out. I've been drinking tons of water since I woke up hoping the flush my system out. Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone before?
I did take Uribel after not taking it for over a week just because I was having some stinging in the urethra from the catheter. I'm almost in tears. I can't take this anymore.

I would have your urine checked to make sure you did not get an infection from the catheterization process. what ingredients are they using in your instillation? Maybe one of them is irritating you.

They instill Elmiron, Lidocaine, Sensorcaine, Sodium Bicarb and Dexamethasone.
I just called the Doctor and a nurse is supposed to call me back.
I'm just starting to panic and I'm trying my best to stay calm because I'm sure stressing is going to make it worse.

Maybe one of the ingredients is bothering your bladder. It also could be a preservative that is in one of the medications. When I was doing bladder instills years ago I used Lidocaine, heparin and saline. They seemed to help me some. Only reason I stopped doing them was because after awhile they were not helping me as much and I was getting infections from the whole process which just made doing them counterproductive.

I also at one point tried adding the Elmiron to my instill and it made me feel worse. I would ask your doctor if you could try eliminating a couple of the drugs they are using in the instills to see if there is any improvement. Maybe just do the Lidocaine, sodium Bicarb and saline or something. Less is best at first in my opinion. Also you can ask if their Lidocaine is preservative free. Some people are just sensitive to the preservatives. Will they add heparin to your instill? That helps quite a few people too.

Only an IC patient would hope it's "only" an infection, but for your sake, I hope that's what you have.

I think it's good that you are drinking water --- it's important to drink six to eight cups per day. When I was having instillations I had only one infection --- and I had a lot of instills. I mention it because if the instillations are helping you, I wouldn't want you to be afraid to have more even if you do have an infection.

          Warm healing wishes,
          Donna
