  • Cystistat problems and no relief yet

Hi. Having had a cystoscopy and hydro distension of the bladder I am now having cystistat installations. First one was okay although I cried lots due to anxiety, second time it took consultant 6 attempts to get catheter in. It felt like my body was pushing it out. As yet have felt no benefits. How long was it before you felt relief? Also read today online that you shouldn't drink much for 4 hours before treatment. Hadn't been told that before. Anyone had any luck with them?

I've never had cystistat, but it sounds like you may have been experiencing bladder spasms when the catheter was being put in --- it might help if you could take an antispasmodic before the next instillation. You might also practice some relaxation techniques before your next treatment. I find that if I concentrate on breathing slowly and evenly and consciously relaxing my muscles, it helps.

I hope others will respond to your question about help from cystistat.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

Thanks Donna. Had 4th treatment today. Still no better. Each time they have to drain my bladder despite the fact I have gone to the toilet first. Anyone else have this happen? I am so tearful each time and anxious it's embarrassing!
