  • Instillations in the U.S. - Options?

I read the attached link of installations and wondered if we in the U.S. are missing out on potential effective treatments (a lot of these seem to be designed to replace the GAG layer):

Can someone tell me - are we missing out on anything significant in the U.S.? Or do we have the functional equivalent of everything offered in other countries?

    Thanks.

    Link no longer works...new link?
Diagnosed with IC in 2005, PFD in 2016. My sister has had IC for 21 years and our mother over 30. 66 years of bladder fun combined!

There may be treatment options available in other countries that we don't have access to --- the same is true for people in other countries who could benefit from things available in the United States. Sometimes I wish that instead of our US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that we could have a "WORLD FDA." Sometimes it takes what I think is a horribly long time for a new drug to be approved, but then I think about the fact that we are probably safer with the FDA in place.

What I suggest is that if there is a specific drug you'd like to try, do a Google search for it to see if it's available --- and if it's not, ask your doctor or pharmacist if there is an equivalent product available here.

        Sending well wishes,
        Donna
