  • Bladder instillations

I appreciate everyone's responses. I am new to this. I started bladder instillations for the first time. It's very painful because I mostly have urethra burning. They numbed me but said they don't usually do that. I have had a lot of anxiety doing any more of these. The next one is next Thursday. I can't sleep and I wonder if it will help. Do many people have success with these? Thanks.

Do you know what was in the solution instilled? There are several different combinations used. If it was DMSO, it's not unusual to have pain after the first few. When I did them, the first few caused pain for several days --- but for a long time, they helped. There are also what are called rescue instillations, which can actually be soothing.

If the solution used contains DMSO, I suggest you specifically request that the solution used contain no more than 25% DMSO. The brand name for DMSO is Rimso 50, which is 50% DMSO, so it needs to be further diluted. I suggest you read the post at
