I had my DMSO and it went well

My Dmso went well. I ended up getting it today instead of friday. the only discomfort I had was with the cathether going in. I held in the DMSO/RIMSO solution for an hour. wasnt bad at all. I cant even smell garlic on me. my bladder feels ok too.with just a little urethral burning. next month Im getting hydrodistention under anesthesia with DMSO and a stronger cocktail installed. I cant believe all this time I chickened out cause of the horror stories that I heard about people being in so much pain from DMSO. For people considering, I would say go for it. We are all different and all bladders are too. I thought 100% that I would be in pain. turned out to be wrong. i do believe that it is painfull for alot of other people. I prayed this morning before I went that I wouldnt be in pain. Prayer is so powerfull. I need to do it more.

Glad it went well.. I know the cath going is a drag but only for a few seconds.. I could not smell the garlic but my husband sure could!!!!..He could smell as soon as I got into the car..Great you held it for that long.. I made it to 20 mins... but it was hard for me to keep it in that long.. 2nd one is on Fri for me.. and your right I put it off for 6-7 years -- and all that worry ..and really not nearly as bad as I thought it would be..

yea I have to wait till the hubby comes home to see if I smell offensive. My uro told me that most of his patients get dmso on average once a month or on an as needed basis. it seems like much less than others. hopefully its effective. the procedure that Im getting mext month (DMSO,hydrodistension and a bladder cocktail under anesthesia) he said that this combination provides his patients the longest relief.

My husband said it smelled like I had been cooking with garlic all day. it lasted about 48 hours.. I am suppose to get a hydrodistension done but it probably will be months before I get in..Not sure if they will put in anything or not..atleast I can get the DMSO done just at the local hospital..

I felt really good right after the treatment but about the 3rd day after I really had a flare up..but it only lasted a day or so.. may have been something I ate but I could not trace it back to anything that could have bothered me so not sure..

I had my second DMSO today.. Had to wait an hour and half before I got in.. Out patients were really busy again.. I held it for 20 mins.. and barely made it to the bathroom which I had to go into hall and next door down.. I am burning right now and have a depends on because I don't have the energy to run to bathroom everytime I have to go which right now is like every 5 mins.. That lasted a couple of hours last time then it was better.. so 2 down - 4 more to go!! I hope I can stick to it..

I hope that it works for you ! u seem like u have been really hanging in there. Btw my hubby told me I didnt smell like garlic. so getting the dmso was a piece of cake. However, I dont feel a difference in symptoms. but im getting hydrodistension+DMSO+bladder cocktail done in a few weeks. I hope that works. I hate wasting time or money.

today my husband said the smell of garlic was not nearly as bad as the first time. I feel fine now-- have been out and used the roof rake to get some snow of the roof..and did some shoveling too.
I had a presc. for DMSO and took what I had in but they provide it at the hospital so don't need to take my own anymore.. We have Blue Cross that pays for most stuff.. Thank God for that..

I am so glad the DMSO went well for you, Iam confused though why they are doing a hydro with a stronger DMSO. I have had the DMSO treatments in the office 1 every week for six weeks and that did the trick for me. I just thought they would do at least 6 DMSO treatments on you before trying the other where you have to be in the hospital. I hope all will go well with you , but you might want to ask your uro about 6 DMSO first. I know everyone is different but I am learning new things my self and I am just curious.

MY uro suggested the 6 Dmso treatments for now. It can be done much quicker seeing it is done by nurse at the local hospital... and then the cysto hydro--- To get the Cysto- Hydro distension could be a 5 months + plus wait here ..My Uro said he does both ..for most patients.. I was diagnosed by a cysto hydro back 6-7 years ago and did not want to try the instills.. Tried Elmiron.. which made me sick! but I did take it almost for one year..

The instills scared me but now that I have had two.. I wish I had tried them a long time ago... All that worry about it ...and it really has not been bad at all...
