  • Ozone injections?

    Good morning~
My Mother Donna will be seeking an alternative therapy by means of Ozone injections. This comes from Dr. Shalemburger out of Reno NV. We have yet to hear any testimony on the treatment, as my Mother has just received a letter from this Dr. and will be seeking out one of the many Dr's who have been trained to administer the injections. In Dr Shalembergers letter, he states that everyone who has gone through the Ozone therapy has succesfully been able to rebuild the bladder lining and no longer have IC. My Mother is not able to comunicate via email but would love to speak or hear from anyone who has undergone this type of a proceedure. Hope to hear from anyone soon on this topic. Have a great day, Carolyn

      Thanks Donna,
My Mother will be disapointed but it will not be the first time. She went to him maybe 10-15 yeas ago and was diagnosed as having off the charts Cadmium poisoning and was sent to have clealation therapy which cost $$$$$ out of pocket and did nothing to help her condition. Now I too question if she was misdiagnosed? I will pass the information on to my Mom. Thanks for this bit of information. Carolyn

        Re: Ozone injections?

        Hi Donna

If I sued every doctor who did not figure out I had IC, and instead diagnosed me with OAB and a host of others, I would be a rich women indeed. Not every doc knows what is wrong every time. Does this make them all bad docs?

I bought an ozone machine after a friend of mine cured her Lyme with one. I have had great success with with my joint pain and energy using mine but I have not done it in my bladder because I was concerned about pain. I just moved to CO and am now seeing a doctor named
Dr. Emilia Ripoll MD. She uses a combo of ozone, heparin and an antibiotic in her instills and has had great success, I start a serious of them next week. She uses a numbing medication so it does not hurt. Its all covered under my issuance. She has been the most caring helpful urologist I have ever met in my 8 year career with IC. I believe she was in the study with the doctor you talking about here.

I will come back in 3 months if it helps to let you know.
Diagnosed with IC Oct 07 (with only a questionnaire at the Urologist , had symptoms since 2005, after a procedure in the health care setting, where I was catheterized.

        Urethral Pain mostly
        frequency and urgency
        Mild dull bladder pain sometimes

Dr Ripolls office in Boulder, CO is helping me tremendously after 8 years with this!

          Re: Ozone injections?

          Hello,

Melsven, would love to know how you are doing with Dr Ripoll. I went and had my first appointment with her Physicains Assistant today. I have an appointment with Dr Ripoll in a few weeks.

I am very interested in doing treatments with ozone... and want to get my own Machine. I know someone who used one for her Interstitial Cystitis with great success.

I had gone to see a Dr in CA who did more eastern medicine, but got discouraged with that and haven't had an appointment over the phone with her for almost two years. I am very scared to try these installations that Dr Ripoll does, not so much because of the Ozone treatment, but the "coktail" of drugs it has in it. I'm scared it will make my IC worse.

Please contact me if your at all able, so that I can have a better idea what to try? Thank you...

            Re: Ozone injections?

Following a low oxalate diet has helped me tremendously but not cured me. I LOVE Katrina Bailey at Dr Rippols office!!! Yes, the ozone is helping. I have had only ONE flare, and that was yesterday because I eat popcorn the day before and it messed up my gut, but only 1 flare since I started. I actually have my own machine, have had one for a year but whenever I tried to do it in my bladder it hurt to bad because I had no numbing agent for my urethra like they do. I do use it in my vaginal and it took away all my joint pain and and I have no fatigue issues anymore. Anyway, they go up slowly on the ozone at her office. It hurts a bit at first (did for me) but that's healing as the ozone hits damaged tissues. Now it does not hurt. I also find the instills very soothing, so I do those too. I no longer have pain in my bladder most of the time (miracle and ozone and diet), its my urethra that still gives me daily issues. They found a pharmacy and are making a compound to but an antibiotic locally to see if it helps. I just have to say she is the BEST urologist I have ever seen, they have so many different things to try both western and natural. She gets IC like no one else I have seen so far and mainly they just want to do whatever necessary to get your pain down. I feel like God moved me here just to see her! I feel so blessed to live near a urologist who uses both.

Also NAET treatments with a women in Fort Collins is helping my food allergies a TON. Too soon with bladder to tell, I am only on my fifth food.. But I am no longer reacting to the foods I have done.

Its good to go in there with all the info you have and what you believe your IC is, (muscular or not, autoimmune, gut, infection ect) and they will help you figure out treatments.

Hey! I'm in a horrible flare after being in a semi remission for a long time. I'm not responding well to the treatments I've had in the past to calm my flare (increasing my meds, PT, TENS etc.) I'm thinking of trying the ozone treatments and I'm wondering if any of you are still having success with it?

Started with bad malabsorbtion problems (leaky gut syndrome)
Found out I had food allergies from an elimination diet (allergic to Milk, Soy, High intolerance to Gluten, and Nuts. My gut feels sooooo much better now that I'm off these). Turned into a leaky bladder lining= IC.

[Medications; Elmiron, Lyrica, Sudafed, Aloe Vera, Yaz (Birth Control; for lighter periods to avoid bad flares) I'm doing great yeah!

                Hi

Yes, It totally helped my bladder pain and IC after 10 treatments, it hurt the first couple times very badly for about 2-3 hours after the treatments, but I believe that was my body healing.

NAET is what is curing my urethral pain, my urethral pain was for sure caused by undiagnosed food allergy's, tons of them. Everything I have treated for no longer gives me urethral pain. I believe I had some sort of infection in my badder which is why ozone worked on it. I have my own machine now and use it on my urethra sometimes, but I think I need to do it more. I am 90% better then I have ever been in 8 years now with IC. I owe Dr. Ripolo my life! I do still have SOME pain very minimal in my bladder on ovulation day and the day before my period.

Good luck to you, do not give up. Healthy diet also very important to keep body in balance.

Thank you for responding Melissa. I also eat a really healthy diet. I have food allergies too that I avoid and it has helped a lot. I tried NAET but it didn't work for me. I wanted to ask about the pain after the procedure. That is what I'm most concerned about. In the past any instillations that I've tried have always flared me instead of helping me. I think because they make my urethra spasm. That is why I'm nervous about doing instillations again. Is there anything they can do to help with the pain afterwards?

Oh and how is Ozone related to infection? I would love some more info. on that. My bladder feels infection free it just is really really dry and has a lot of glomerations. It bled a lot under hydrodistention. Do you think ozone would still work for me if mine isn't infection related?

                    Re: Ozone injections?

NAET did not work for me either, the first two docs I used over the years back in Chicago. I found an amazing one a few months ago in Colorado that actually does it right and its now working, an acupuncturist. I tried it again because I felt through prayer that I should. Sadly, the training for it is not that good and a lot of the practitioners do not do it correctly, this is what my doc told me anyway. My acupuncturist actually taught me to do it at home with my husband I have have treated 10 different foods as home, every one of them worked! I use to have a lot of different allergy symptoms not just in my bladder and it has worked for all the symptoms. It is a miracle to me. I am also using it on my kids for there allergies and its working (we do it at home). BUT, this is after OZONE helped my bladder tremendously. I am not sure if it would have worked if I was still in tons of bladder pain. I feel like its the final piece to my healing, I have come a long way. I have been in HELL for many years with this and finally I feel free. I am being trained now to become a wellness coach to help others overcome health challenges. Much love and light to you, you will find your way just keep on the search. I find "IC" is quite different for a lot of us, its finding out the imbalances in our own bodies which it sounds like you already know.

Hey does anyone know how to change your signature? I cannot find how and I wanted to update it to give more info on how I got better. Much love.

"I wanted to ask about the pain after the procedure. That is why I'm nervous about doing instillation again. Is there anything they can do to help with the pain afterwards?" - Yes they put a numbing medicine in, but you need to research ozone. Ozone heals damaged tissue, not just from infection but when something heals it causes a bit of inflammation. The pain did not last more than a few hours for me each time, very worth it to me. I have my own machine but could never do it because of the pain for very long, but the numbing medicine she used helped a ton while it was in, but the pain for a few hours afterward was still there. NO other instills ever worked for me, I have tried them all.

"Oh and how is Ozone related to infection?" - Ozone heals damaged tissue please research this, and not on quack watch which is ran by the lovely FDA, if I followed the info on that site I would still not be well.

"My bladder feels infection free it just is really really dry and has a lot of glomerations. It bled a lot under hydro distention. Do you think ozone would still work for me if mine isn't infection related?" - I think you need to talk to the doctor about htis, please consult with Dr. Ripol

Please message me privately if you have any more questions because I know "alternative treatments" tend to create havoc on this site and after all I have been though with IC I do not want to be around any negatively. I know what worked for me and someone else might consider that alternative, I call it the grace of God. I would love to talk to anyone privately though I will give you my normal email.

Thank you for all these answers to my questions. You are so helpful! It is ironic that Dr. Ripoll was my urologist in Colorado. I lived only a few minutes from her office. I only saw her twice to refill some medications, but at the time I was mostly in remission so I didn't need anything but physical therapy. I really liked Dr. Ripoll the two times I saw her. I went to her office regularly to see her physical therapist F.E. Boswell, who is absolutely amazing at helping IC and pelvic floor dysfunction. She kept me in remission. But I've since moved to Utah and now I wish I had Dr. Ripoll here! The urologist I see here is good but he doesn't understand that to treat IC SOMETIMES you also have to treat underlying food allergies, and gut issues. I'll research the ozone treatments. I'm so happy you've found relief and NAET worked for you! I had a functional medicine doctor that got me to remission with low acid diet, no gluten, dairy, or peanuts, supplements, Aloe, TENS, PT, and treating yeast. But now I'm back in a horrible flare and nothing is working. Thank you for your help! I hope I find relief soon!

I wouldn't recommend the ozone injections. They didn't help, they cost a lot of money, and they caused me to flare.
