  • Considering DMSO

    Hi all,

I've been flaring for about a month and have just about had it. I get a really bad burning feeling like my privates are on fire. I had a hydro in April and felt great up until about a month ago. I'm wondering how I feel afterward as far as pain goes. A few hours, a few days??? Also, how expensive is this? I ended up spending a couple thousand to get the hydro done and am wondering if this is more or less expensive. Thanks for all the info and advice in advance.

It should be less do you have insurance? I had DMSO and now I am pretty much in remission.

      Linda,

Yes, I do have insurance. Since I've hit my deductable, 80% of most expenses are covered. I'm glad to hear that you are responding well to the treatments. How did you feel afterwards??

It took about 4 treatments when I felt that it was getting better.

          Linda,

What I was wondering is how did you feel the day you had a treatment? Does it hurt really bad afterwards? How does it compare to getting a hydro? I hurt bad when I woke up, but felt better in a few days. I'm just wondering if I'm going to feel like crap afterwards.

babygirl I felt no different before or after until the forth time.

It did not hurt one bit, they used a small cath and the nurse was gentle.

I held it in at least an hour it did not hurt when I voided.

For me no problem at all, just make sure you have a good nurse and Uro.

Also, stay on the diet do not cheat you will flare I tried coffee one time and flared.

I wish you the best and let me know how things turn out for you.

              Linda,

Thanks for the info. I have a great uro and the nurse that I've seen before is really nice, so I'm hoping that will continue with further visits.

If Kaiser is an option in your city, you may want to consider switching to that insurance. It's very inexpensive and the first thing they do is DMSO treatments. I don't pay a copay. If you're looking for low cost, check them out: https://www.kaiserpermanente.org/
