Great idea for the feeding tube. I use a brand of caths called "Low Fric". They are self lubing and they work pretty well, too.

Try sitting on an ice pack. It always helped me after an instill. Kathi jester

I had my DMSO today with my new uro and they used a small infant size feeding tube instead of a catheter. I didn't feel a thing when they put it in! It was wonderful! Now I am sort of flaring but I usually do for a day or so before I get better. Anyway, just wanted you to know that if you are still having instill with a traditional catheter - DON'T! Insist that your doc use something else because it is not necessary to suffer. My old uro used an adult size catheter and no numbing gel - I was too scared to insist but now I know better!

They are really very tiny and work well for many however they really hurt me but I've never been sure why. I also have trouble with an IV the whole time it's in so I've wondered if maybe I have a problem with plastic. But definitely try it! I finally settled on a pediatric latex catheter # 8 and that works the best for me but it's an individual thing. Good luck!

    Not your typical catheter tube!

Today I went to a new uro and he is going to start me back on DMSO treatments because they work as good maintenance for me. He told me that instead of a catheter tube or pediatric tube for the instill they use a small size feeding tube because it is smaller than the smallest catheter. It takes a little longer for the med to go in but is worth the time to reduce the pain. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am having it done tomorrow so I will let you know what I think!
