  • Doctors in South East or North East who prescribe home installations

    Hi All,
I live in Charlotte North Carolina, and have an excellent urogynecologist. Through five rescue installations, I've had basically three months of no bladder pain. Pain is returning a bit now However, I'm not sure he would be interested in me doing home installations. Does anyone know of a doctor in the south east (or worst case North East) that would prescribe home installations? What's worked for me is heparin, marcaine and sodium bicarbonate... I think, it's been so long since I've had them I've forgotten. Thanks!

Hey there! I'm in Charlotte too. Can you explain what a "rescue installation" is? I was seeing a P.A. at Urology Specialists (WT Harris Blvd) for my I.C. but he's no longer practicing. So now I'm going to try Dr. Robert Evans in Wake Forest at the Baptist hospital.

Since it looks like you feel okay about your doctor, I suggest you ask about learning to do the instillations at home.

That's a great point Donna. I may test the waters to see whether he ever has people on a maintenance schedule at his office or maybe he does have people doing it at home, he just hasn't mentioned it. Do you know, whether there are people out there that need to do it more regularly than just a handful of installations but get good results? I just got the impression from my current doctor thought it was five installations and you're done. Bye-bye no more problem. It worked great for about two months but things are starting to creep back. And to the lady that asked about what installations are, they insert medicine directly into your bladder via a catheter.

I would definitely go see Dr. Evans if you have any issues . He's the best. You will not find a better doctor in my opinion. He let's patients do home instills. Some need to do them as often as every day. Good luck! :-)

Thank you ladies! L Thomas, is there anyway I could email you directly? I actually saw some info on Dr. Dell and was thinking of seeing him, so would really love to talk with you for just a few minutes if you've actually been to see him.

And to who commented about Dr Evans, that's great! I actually saw him once and he didn't mention home installations but maybe that was because it was my first visit. Do you know what's in the installs he prescribes for at home use? What's works for me is heparin lidocaine and sodium bicarbonate. Thanks! I am starting to feel some hope again!
