  • Has anyone used colloidal silver?

My nutritionist has suggested using colloidal silver to promote healing. Has anyone used it and how safe and effective is it?

    Thanks,
    Susan

Colloidal silver can have some pretty awful side effects, including turning the skin an irreversible gray.

      Colloidal Silver

Colloidal Silver- There are so many different companies out there selling it, and because of this there are many that are not effective and do give horrid side effects, like grey/blue skin, but NOT all of them do this, and that is from High does. There is a ton on mis information out there on the internet and you need to research more than a few sites before you beleive something, I am finding out the hard way. I know people who have used the real stuff effectively... There is even a guy that is all blue out there online videos claiming it was from that, but when you do more research you find out he was making his own, and taking way to much. This can be a life saver for some people, but you need to do extensive research to make sure you are getting the right stuff.
This is a great non biased site to read about it-

I have been doing a lot of research on it trying to decide if I should use it as well, it has both fungal and bacterial killing action...and you do not need a doc to prescribe it

        hey there

With that side effect of the skin turning grey----its only if you ingest it....
if you use it topically, you would have to have it all over your body everyday for a long time for it to turn your skin that colour....
as far as i have read anyway....
my friend used it for her skin infection and it didn't do anything....
i haven't used it since i get infections all over the place and well you just can't bathe it in....so thats why i don't use it....
i find using betadine scrub every so often works for me....and also i use hemp body butter and that really helps...
thats my two cents on that...
hope you find relief real soon
Have dealt with chronic pain and gerd/ibs since '98 endometriosis, vulvodynia diagnosed 2000, ic diagnosed around 2004, chronic epstein barr-like virus 2011

People are actually swallowing it. If you are considering taking it, I suggest strongly that you discuss it with a qualified physician first.

You can read about it on http://www.quackwatch.org

Coloildal silver has been used for awhile for treating infections when antibitoics fail. Though, you do need to make sure you are buying it from a reliable source. I know **** is really good and has a good reputation. My mother-in-laws friend had a tonsilitis and put some on her tonsils and it healed it.
I can understand why you are skeptical, I myself have some here and am skeptical of using it, or should I say paranoid really since everything bothers me. I would say if you want, you could visit a intergrative medical doctor and ask them, they know all about this kind of stuff and safety issues with it.

There's a huge difference between putting colloidal silver on the skin and actually swallowing it. It's really scary seeing what it can do to people.

Here's another link showing results: http://dermatology.cdlib.org/111/cas...a/wadhera.html

Thanks for the article Donna. It is pretty scary. I think it is even more scary that the companies are allowed to sell the stuff it if has these type reactions. On the bottle I have here at home, it actually says to put several drops in water and to drink it or to put in under the tongue. I have not tried it yet, I have had this bottle for almost a year now. I bought it awhile back when I was getting sick all the time, and since I cannot take many antibitoics due to bad side effects I bought this stuff. I know there are other natural medicines that are used to help treat and prevent infections, or at least it says they do, and after reading all this stuff, I would try other things first before trying the collodial silver. Anyhow, thanks for that article.

Jen, I honestly think it would be a good idea to discard the silver and find something else. It's just too scary.

Donna, Yes, I am going to get rid of it. I am not taking any chances especially since I am so vunerable to weird side effects when it comes to taking any meds. There are other things out there that are safer. Thanks.

Be careful with CS. My dad passed away in Feb. after taking large amounts of it. He would not go to the doctor (didn't believe in the medical community and would only do alternative stuff) had something majorly wrong with him (I suspect congestive heart failure) and began making and taking CS. His feet got so swollen that he couldn't wear shoes. I think his system became toxic and his kidneys failed. WE don't know for sure that it was the CS, but it sure didn't help his condition.

                            Another Idea....

Instead of the Silver...try Garlic if you can. It promotes healing & is a natural antibiotic. I believe that if the Silver scares you, than maybe the Garlic or hey, even Aloe or Marshmalllow Root would be better

                              Hi Alisha.
I was looking at the natural things you are taking and was wondering what helps you with the bladder pain? I have been taking cantharis, and this helps me a little. Does the marshmellow root tea help you with pain? I tried eating garlic, but it bothered my bladder and did not really help with preventing UTI's.
