any sucess with oral hyalouronic acid capsules?
Diagnosed with IC October 2009- through bladder biopsy (no glomerations or hunners ulcers found, just irritation)
I have moderate-severe IC
Currently stopped taking all medications due to pregnancyTags: None -
That sounds like a logical idea
I haven't tried oral hyuralonic acid. I don't post very often any more... I'm essentially in a good remission except for PFD. I do take D3 10,000 U/day and that seemed to help along w/PT pretty much right away. The alternative people are recommending 10,000 u of D. Alopaths still recommend 5,000 U. Not a doctor... just stating what helped me.
Also, magnesium oil in a spray form, epsom salts baths--magnesium sulfate are helpful w/muscle function. Dr. Moldwin advocates epsom salts baths twice a day.

I've been taking cystoprotek for a year and am really not any different sorry to say. I am planning on cutting back to 2 a day for a month and then stopping it altogether. It seems like the elmiron is starting to work.Cindi

I started taking the elmiron the same day as you did. That day I had a major flare and was up in the middle of the night urinating. Uh! I really wanted it to work.. I was so disappointed.. I decided to try the cystoprotek and only after 4 days I already feel the difference. I hope that the elmiron works for you.. I would cut back on the cystoprotek and see if it makes any difference in your symptoms. If you get worse then maybe the cystoprotek did work with minimal results..Good luck..._____________________________________________Comment

The cystoprotek has good things in it for my joints and stuff so I'm not against continuing to take it, it just hasn't done anything for my IC, if anything the last 6 months have been worse symptom wise then previous years. On a side note, I think the DH aloe does help with inflammation so I will keep taking that for now. If someday I have NO symptoms then maybe I'll cut back on them both. That would be a happy day.
I'm feeling hopeful for the elmiron to do its thing and coat my bladder! At the same time I'm taking calcium with every meal to keep my urine ph up so that my bladder can hopefully heal. There was a really good post about that recently that I'm trying. I'll start a new thread under alternative therapies for that.Cindi
