  • IMMUNOGLOBULINs

    Hello,

Has anyone out there been experimenting with supplements containing immunoglobulins?

I started taking COLOSTRUM pills - 2000mg/day back in December and had a really weird experience in March - a 12 day remission! I ate strawberry crepes with no consequence during this time. My first remission ever.

I read somewhere on even better health dot com that COLOSTRUM helps rebuild the lining of the bladder and reduces inflammation in the body. It apparently is also mentioned in "Along the Healing Path."

Convinced that I'm on to something, I have raised my COLOSTRUM dosage to 3000mg/day (six pills at 500mg each) and my flares are minor when they should be severe.

Example: I got overconfident and ate theater popcorn yesterday. I flared through the movie and for an hour afterwards, but it wasn't a severe flare and it was gone by bedtime. NOT NORMAL FOR ME.

Also, an IC sufferer friend on FB pointed me at a supplement called 4Life Transfer Factor Plus. She was on her 5th bottle and her urgency and frequency was gone by more than 50 percent. I looked up the ingredients in that supplement and again saw a lot of COW COLOSTRUM.

Anyway, I'd love to hear more from people experimenting with COLOSTRUM. I asked my urologist about it and she said she had one other patient who tried it for a while but didn't continue. This tells me I'm not the first. ANYONE ELSE?
Exposure to an unclean hot tub 2-17-07 FIRST UTI
(Got ringworm-like sores from it before)
(Someone else got what looked like 'eye herpes')
(My husband got an ear infection. We were all just sitting there!)
SYMPTOMS: Severe Urgency/Frequency for 18 months, food sensitivity, widespread nerve pains (random and everywhere), deep bladder pain that developed into flares at 4 months. Completely unreasonable diet sensitivity.
TESTS: Nothing showed in urine cultures, CT scan, Cystoscopy, Lumbar puncture, back and brain MRIs, EMG tests.
Hydrodistension Surgery/Biopsy showed minor glomerulations, inflammatory and mast cells, and a rare eosinophil. Blood tests show elevated ANA.
CONFUSED: My hands and feet started falling asleep. I got twitching nerves or muscles everywhere. I started having concentration and memory problems, vision problems, then fatigue and chronic migraines. Fibromyalgia diagnosed, SSDI disability awarded at 4 years, then gone at 7 years. Won the appeal. IBS and esophagus spasms at 6 years.
MEDICATIONS: Marcaine/Heparin/Sodium Bicarb instills, Lyrica, Nortriptyline, Uribel. Paxil and Trazadone from before. Painkillers as needed. Supplements include CystoProtek, DH Aloe, Colostrum.
PREVIOUS CONDITIONS: Sudden onset of double vision, Paxil Discontinuation Syndrome, PTSD

Yes I bought it, but I have been on Ab's for the last few weeks from a toothache.

I only take one new pill at a time so I can tell what side effects I get from what.

I finished the ab's on Friday so I think i will start it today.

I will keep you posted on how I do.

My only concern about them is I have trouble swallowing lg gel caps, they get stuck in my throat.

My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

Growth factors have been shown to help stimulate cell and tissue growth by stimulating DNA formation. They are found naturally and in high concentrations in Colostrum. Several studies show that these growth factors are capable of increasing T-cell production, accelerating healing.

Taramc, when I was taking Colostrum my recovery time from flares was much shorter .

Mothergoose, you can find Colostrum powder, it taste like powdered milk. For quicker absorption, the Colostrum may be placed under the tongue for 30 seconds, followed with 8-12 oz. of water.

Taramc!! that is awesome! I have been taking COLOSTROM pills for years now, since diagnosed with IC, and it has helped tremendously in my healing. I take no medication at all, never did, my doctor pushed meds on me, but I went the natural route. COLOSTROM was a supplement that definitely helped with my healing. I still take it daily!!

        Take care,
        Peace

          Swallowing mass doses of supplements

On taking supplements... I get air in my throat all the time. It hurts! I take over 20 large capsules a day. If I've got a bad air bubble in my throat, it absolutely feels like the capsule is stuck there. Drinking more water helps. And don't eat anything when you have a bad air bubble - I did that once and the air bubble made me puke lol.

I found that Vitamin World and GNC both carry colostrom. From what I've read above, I think it's worth a try. Right now I am taking aloe vera geltabs and cystaprotek as far as supplements go. I am also taking Elavil, extended release Ditropan and hydroxyzine.

Got the colostrum yesterday and took 3 and then took 3 again this morning. Three pills is almost 2000mg. How long did any of you have to take it before you noticed results?

Please remember that herbal remedies are also medications. That's why it's so important that your doctor knows which natural medications you are taking.

I started Colostrom at the beginning of December and had my first 10-day remission in March. I got away with eating a strawberry crepe one day, and a glass of champagne another day. Then I got overconfident and ended the remission with banana chips. Still, I KNOW it's the colostrum that helped me and I raised my dose to 6 caps/day. I'm not flaring as bad after restaurants!

Donna, I always talk to my doc first, but thanks for the pointer. Nice to know there are others looking out for me. Taramc, that's wonderful!!! This may sound crazy, but I am feeling better today after only 2 doses. I did have a slight problem this morning when I burped and the taste of the colostrum came up. I almost lost it. I swear that is the nastiest taste ever. Hopefully it won't happen tomorrow.

                      28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

                        Colostrum

I was able to get it at Vitamin World for around $15. I believe GNC also carries it. Be sure to take it with a glass of milk; that keeps me from burping them and having that nasty taste.

blutou and taramc still on colostrum?

I thought about this but only took a few pills of lactoferrin which I think is similar, but not sure. I see you need to take a lot. Is it still working and what else do you take. Thanks! PV
I got IC in 1970! I was not diagnosed until 1991. I've tried many drugs and therapies but I tend to only resort to drugs when in a flare because when I am not in a flare (from being good on diet), I suffer only from small bladder volume (like about 7 ozs.) and peeing will relieve the discomfort. When I am feeling relatively normal, I say to myself I am glad I am not on a drug. When I am in a flare, I say, why am I not on a drug! I've recently have been trying to solve my connective issue problems in general. I look to diet and herbs mostly unless it gets really bad. I still think there is great hope for each individual finding a path to healing and there are many.

I have been taking the Colostrum for a little over a week and it seems to be helping. I am still having some discomfort, but not as bad and not as long. I have been taking three a day. So, hopefully this will do the trick to rid me of this flare.
