Hey! I just went to the chiropractor today! My bladder feels better after having gone! I wonder if that is a coincidence.... He did show me where the bladder and nerves, bones in the back connected to the bladder--- Anyone else have this experience

    Jenn
    28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

I'm glad you had great success going to the chiro!!! Thats great!!!

I have not gone yet but I am going to go to a chiro who also does acupuncture soon. She is on the pelvic medicine team that I go to. My uro did a study of the effects of acupuncture on IC when she was a fellow and said all the pts in the study had at least a 40% reductions in at least one of their symptoms whether it be frequency, pelvic pain, bladder pain, etc. So I'm very excited to see what it does for me!

I personally have not, but want to try. I do have 2 friends though who also have IC and both find great relief w/ their chiropractors. But I know they are also taking marshmallow root and probiotics like pb8 and natures sunshine probiotics eleven (extra added probiotics dealing specifically w/ our issues) and one is taking aloe vera. So its hard to say if the relief is from the chiro or the herbs or the combinations.

      I was on...
Loestrin 24(to prevent period induced flares)
Elmiron since Feb.'07 for a year and half
Atenolol for Migraines(caused by elmiron) since June '07(Had to have the amount doubled)
      Tried Prevacid didn't work.
Tried Axert for migraines didn't work.
Tried Frova for migraines made worse.
      Atarax Feb.'07-Feb'08
Used to take IBS meds of all kinds, now I use Yerba Mate guayaki drinks, eating lots of fiber and flax seed, and taking probiotics and added magnesium. My probiotics help w/ flares too.

Now for the occasional flare related to stress, I take probiotic eleven and marshmallow root and it will make it stop and Im fine again. Otherwise I dont have many problems w/ my severe IC like I used to.Thank God!

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

I had chiropractic work done years ago for VVestibulitis and it was successful. I hadn't tried it for bladder problems but if my symptoms return I will be. I know whenever my pt did a lot of work on my sacral area and lower back my bladder always felt better afterward, so it's worth a try.

I went to a Chiropractor years ago when I had insurance that covered it. I benefitted from it.

However when you stop going you do feel a not so good difference @ first then you adjust to not having adjustments over time.

I began doing Yoga on my own about 1 & 1/2 years ago. I feel alot better, I self taught myself from a DVD & a few tips from my friend in MI gave me before we relocated. I then found a local yoga instructor this year & got some individualized instruction on areas & issues that I wanted to work on, WOW! I then "kicked myself in the butt" (made myself) & attended a couple of her classes, even more WOW! I learn something everytime I have gone I plan on attending one of her classes in the fall, I am excited! I have slept more sound since I began doing yoga everynight, I wake up feeling more refreshed it's great!

I now do between 10-15 minutes of yoga everynight before I go to bed followed by deep cleansing breathing exercises & deep relaxation exercises.

The instructor teaches power yoga, also known as Vinyasa (means flow), there are different styles & this is all I know, most importantly it helps me feel better

It's up to you what you do but my only regret is not beginning Yoga earlier than I did!
