  • Boric acid

    Hi everyone...

I need some advice or some people who have had experience with Boric acid. My dr told me to insert a gel cap in to my vagina with boric acid in it because I have exessive white discharge....she said it would help???? I have NO idea what this is gonna do to me.... and I am scared. I have a gel cap in right now and I JUST put it in so im not sure if it will burn or if I am gonna be in agony later or if it will help? I hear it is for chronic yeast infections?

Please tell me if it will hurt me. I purpously put it up there now so that if it does kill me I can wash it out rather than going to bed and then waking up in pain.

Has anyone ever been HELPED by boric acid???
I dont really have a yeast infection per say although i am convinced I have a YEAST PROBLEM,, but you know drs.... they dont really believe in that...

    HELP.

    Thanks

    Jenn
    28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

    Me in my graduation gown!

I haven't personally used them but I do know that compounding pharmacies will sometimes add this to their vaginal suppositories to prevent a problem with yeast. I have known people who have had this added to their suppositories and have not had a problem with it affecting their bladders. But then again, you already know how different we all are with this condition.

        Boric Acid

This was also recommended to me, but I was told that if I had any cuts or lacerations it might be a problem. I felt intuitively that boric acid was not something I was going to try and most MDs or naturpaths have an alternative to balacing our yeast problems.

What I do *love* That is got to be the wrong word is vaginal valium. My MD was not going to perscribe it, but it has kept me from using any oral pain meds and I can exercize (jogging-really 3x a week) without pelvic pain.

I thought I was doing so much better after instills that induged a a party with tomatoes, white wine and bordolaise sauce. Ouch!

          Garlic and water shooters

What are Garlic and water shooters? I found that a tea of garlic and honey can be soothing sometimes.

I just chopped up a clove of garlic and put it in some water and then drink it as fast as I can lol. Helps with yeast etc. I alot of the time will just drink hot water with honey in it. I find that to be very soothing

Hope it's not odd to revive such an old thread ---

I am prone to yeast infections, so I am encouraged to take boric acid every 3 days. If I have gone a while without flaring, I only need to do this the week during & after my period. If I am having problems, it's every three days, no exceptions. Recently, I have found it to help with preventing yeast infections. However, it does not prevent pain. I recommend it if you often get infections, but I don't see it as a way to alleviate IC symptoms.
