  • feeling bit better due to these?? honey?

As usual I have these streaks of feeling bad and then better, back and forth, etc. After I stopped the Elmiron from Australia, I started to feel a bit better. But that is when I started manuka honey as a tea (about 2 tsps in warm water) and gaia herbs adrenal health. I would be interested to hear if anyone gets that manuka honey (the rated ones that are active 16+ or more and who rates them is a whole other topic - there's UMF, OMA and others and they are in a PR battle about it). Maybe because I am not touching real tea! Anyway someone please try manuka honey which is supposed to be good for infections and mast cells but reaching the bladder is a question. It tastes good anyway! Warning - I had a flare after drinking a cup at first. I thought it was from that but then now I obviosuly don't think so.
I got IC in 1970! I was not diagnosed until 1991. I've tried many drugs and therapies but I tend to only resort to drugs when in a flare because when I am not in a flare (from being good on diet), I suffer only from small bladder volume (like about 7 ozs.) and peeing will relieve the discomfort. When I am feeling relatively normal, I say to myself I am glad I am not on a drug. When I am in a flare, I say, why am I not on a drug! I've recently have been trying to solve my connective issue problems in general. I look to diet and herbs mostly unless it gets really bad. I still think there is great hope for each individual finding a path to healing and there are many.

What is manuka honey? Is it different than the other kinds of honey?

      special honey

Manuka honey is all over the internet, but proobably for good reason. As you know there is something in honey that deters growth of certain germs but this honey has something that makes it last longer. It is being used in special bandages and even there is thread on this forum somewhere about it being put in an instill. In doesn't say manuka but that is the honey that has very special qualities to it. Read up! The good stuff is pricey and it is raw and unprocessed. Never give any honey to a an infant, as it still can have botulism spores in it.

Thanks for the info. I read about honey being good for skin wounds years ago but haven't heard much about it again until now. I use honey in my chamomile tea all the time but hadn't thought of using it by itself in warm water.

          28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

          Me in my graduation gown!

            honey

I drink hot water with honey too.
I find it soothing and it's also been helpful in keeping me "regular".

              Warm honey/water

So other than being soothing, does the warm water/honey help with IC?

I am looking for a way to just get and keep control of the pain. It be beyond excruciating at times.

                constipation

The hot water with honey doesn't directly affect IC, it's for constipation, but, it does tend to make me feel relaxed, which may help my bladder.
