  • Keflex?

After 3 years of UTI's and long term antibiotic use I had a procedure done last week (nothing to do with the bladder) and was given Keflex. I've never been on it before and I noticed over the weekend that I haven't had any bladder pain and couldn't think of anything that I've been doing different. Then, it dawned on me eek the Keflex.....could this be the answer I've been searching for

            CONGRATS Teri!!

Keflex is an antibiotic of the cephalosporin family. While it is NOT typically used for urinary tract infections (which is probably why you havent been on it before Teri) it is great for skin infections, and therefore may benefit those tissues of the urinary tract.....and thats usually why its give with a procedure, prophylactically.

            Hope you continue to improve!!!

Interesting....My mother is a nursing home patient and unfortunately was getting 4 to 6 UTI's a year. I persuaded the the Dr. to try her on 250mgs of keflex a day. That was 5 years ago. She hasn't had a UTI since......SKY

                Teri,

I have found great relief with antibiotics, it did take awhile to find the right one. I'll keep my fingers crossed you continue to feel well.

                Hugs,
