  • Article on Medscape about IC and BCG

Hey gang. Follow the link below for this article. "Bacillus Calmette-Guerin Fails to Benefit Most Patients With Interstitial Cystitis." If you aren't registered with Medscape, you'll need to before you can view the article.

Read this critically folks. This study was done on a small number of people and the author indicates that research on BCG should still proceed.

I recieved this also and found it dissappointing. Though, I tend to think something was not done correctly, or because of the small group, because other urologists have found it so beneficial.

I just got it from Medscape and finished reading it before I hopped over here. I'm taking it with a grain of salt since the subject pool was so small.

I'm having my 5th BCG instillation this Thursday. I'll keep you posted.

I read about this study also, and was a little discouraged because BCG seemed so promising. However, I found some comments by Dr. Ken Peters that add some perspective.

        Hope this is helpful.

          Dear Kristi,

Thanks so much for posting about Dr. Peters view on the negative BCG study--- I am one of his paitents and he told me about the article he wrote but I was unable to find it on the internet or in a medical library.
