  • Botox possibly making pain worse?!

Hello all, just hoping to hear of any one else's experiences with botox either into pelvic floor or bladder? Has it ever caused anyone's pain to worsen?

I have been getting botox into my pelvic floor since 2016 every 5-6 months and it has always worked beautifully.
I decreased my dose from 200 to 100 units the last 2 times. The first time still worked fine.
this time, on december 3rd, I got my 100 units. I was still feeling totally normal, then fast forward 2 weeks and flare exploded. I have had burning muscle pain and new spasms by my back end making me feel the need to have a BM whenever I am sitting down. The urinary frequency is also increased, so much so that combined with the burning groin and everything I had to quit a job I only just started. I was supposed to start full time on January 6th, but my dr. Point blank told me there was no way I could do it in my condition right now, which is really disheartening.
I am supposed to get another 100 units January 7th, but my specialist said it might make me worse if it is indeed what caused my flare this time?!

Has anyone ever had botox actually make their pain worse?? How is this possible? My specialist has not been much help. She said she wasn't sure, we could try again, and then gave me morphine suppositories.

I don't want to start taking morphine suppositories and not work at the age of bloody 24. This is brutal.

Any help or insites would be much appreciated.
    thank you ❤❤

I haven't tried botox, but wonder if you are following an IC diet? When we feel better, it's so tempting to go back to the habits that got us there --- it took me a looong time to learn that.

I just hope you feel better soon.

I guess I never really did follow the diet perfectly. I always had my coffee in the morning. It did not seem to affect my bladder.
I have switched from coffee to ginger tea, which I think is supposed to be better for the bladder. I have the diet downloaded again on my phone.
Thanks for answering Donna, I truly appreciate everything you do

You're welcome. I know diet can be a challenge --- and sometimes we have to keep a diary to be able to identify all of our triggers. The IC diet was developed with input from thousands of IC patients, along with medical professionals, but it's not 100% for all of us --- because not 100% of us react the same to everything, but it's an excellent starting place.
