I am having Botox !!

Hi everyone,
I had to see my surgeon yesterday, I need to have my bladder out for the second time.
Mean while I have a problem with bladder spasm's so I have been asked if I want to try Botox in my bladder.
I said I would give it a try while waiting for the surgery date, but after reading some of the Botox post's on here I am unsure whether I have made the right decision.
I am in so much pain, I will be having a general A in theatre, as cathing urethrally is unbearable.
Have I done the right thing saying yes to Botox??
And will it help?
It's mainly for the spasm's and severe pain.

You poor thing. What do you mean by having your bladder out again?
I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide. I thought about doing it, but the cost and newness of it is holding me back.
If you go for it I'd like a full report.

Hiya,
Last november I had what I thought was a total cystectomy.
Yesterday I found out that I had a clam cystoplasty instead and that the bottom half of my badly behaved bladder was used and added to my bowel to make a neobladder.
This is causing me a huge amount of problems(see my other posts) and now I need the whole bladder taken out and the total cystectomy done after all.
I bet this has confused you hasn't it?
Basically the surgeon who did the op did the wrong op!!!

Still not sure if I will have the Botox, there are some people on here who have very bad experiences with Botox.
It sort of put's me off the idea a little.

Oh my!!!!!! That is awful! How horrible! I can't believe that they did that. I mean come on - they should have run it by you several times!!!!!! So sorry that happened!
I'm curious to see if you get any replies where the Botox worked wonders.

I had a hydro distention and botox done on March 2nd and feel great. It was my first hydo and my bladder the doctor said was a bloody mess. He said the cracks and hemerages where all over. I was in a lot of pain when I woke up and did take pain killers for 2 days later. About a week and a half later my bladder felt great. I went from peeing 30 times a day to 8. I do sometimes have spasms not many since the botox. I still have urethra burning. If you can get it covered by the insurance and or can afford it go for it you have nothing to loose.

I have had botox injections many times. At first just the bladder but now I get injections in the urethra, pelvic floor, vestibule glands, etc. I loved the effects with just the bladder but really believe it helps more with urethral pain and pelvic pain then the bladder. Before I started getting my urethra injected I couldn't hardly stand a catheter now it doesn't bother me at all the use one during flares. I would suggest you order prelubricated catheters in pediatric sizes before the procedure.
