    oh boy

Lets see ladies....everything went good yesterday.....i was stuck on the jetblue plane for 3hrs because of storms and we could only fly 10,000ft or we werent allowed to leave so i saw lighting when we were up and was like yep im shutting the window lol....then we dropped from 10,000ft to 8,000 during a bad bad turblance...but after we got out of scranton PA everything was good...........as for today im in a ton of pain and had to take the global regents and hardly could do that but got through it.....i think i did good.....

dr moldwin stretched my pelvic muscles as well as putting the botox in....didnt know he was going to stretch them till after the surgrey....that is what made the pain worse....but in a week or so ill be better... and will update you all again...thank you for the continuing support and prayers...
Is it just me or are my veins stupid??? i have five holes on both my arms until they got an IV in my hand its swollen and hurts but nothing compared to the awful pelvic pain today...that IV hurt so bad!

i was about ready to break down and cry while i was waiting three hours on the plane for it to leave i was so ****** and in soo much pain im just glad we got home....we took and earlier flight cuz i was done early and which was good cuz the one were supposed to go on got cancelled!!

Aye!!!!! But i will update aagain and thank you!!

        .................................

He did an exam right before with some sedation i still felt it so sedation my butt LOL....he told my mom yesterday he punctured six holes on each side of my pelvis where i hurt the most...plus he stetched my muslces out as well which hurt.....better day today but it still kills a bit!! All they told me to do was to take painpills constantly to get me zonked out.....but other then that they cant do anything else for me so i have to wait for the pain to go away which usually takes me a week then the botox kicks in....cant wait for that!!

          IC Pain

IC pain for me can only be described as being in labor, I find myself doing the breathing as though I'm having contractions. I've had IC for 5years now and I've been on everything out there. I had a one year period where the IC just went away I had no pain, and no other problems what so ever but now it seems that the IC is getting worse. I've been in serious pain since Friday at 1am and usually the pain lets up once in a while but this is a constant pain it feels like I actuall have a baby kicking me that's how bad my bladder is contracting, I'm scared to go to the doctors because I feel something else might be going on as well. Is it worth while discussing BOTOX with my doctor, I'm at the point where I just don't seem to care anymore because nothing is helping me.

            over 3 weeks....not so good

I am having trouble going to the bathroom so i have to push but im told not to because it hurts the pelvic muscles which i know so i have not yet felt any relief this time. Dr. Moldwin put me on flomax so that it would help me go to the bathroom and not push. He says its not from the botox but i had the same thing happen to me after the 1st botox but it wasnt bad i just thought it was from cymbalta which the dr. thought was also the problem. Well after the 2nd round it got worse and he still says its not from the botox! Its weird!!! i still think it is. But he said the only way that would happen is if i would put it into your bladder but he doesnt and says never will do that to anyone. So im confused...depressed and upset that it is not working this time. I believe its not working because im pushing which is not allowing the muscles to heal. So hopefully the flomax will take affect in the next few weeks and ill see if my muscles have calmed down. Hope it does. The next thing is the interstim so i dont know!! By the way.....when my mom and i were stuck on jet blue for 3 hours on the runway....the next day we EACH got a 100 dollar voucher! which will be used to fly back to NYC to see Dr. moldwin again.
But its sooo confusing you work on one thing and another problem occurs. My bladder was doing great no burning urgency freq. nothing and now im having trouble starting sometimes and my flow is weak and have so much urine left in my bladder afterwards it sucks!!
But i will check back again in a week or so to let you know how things are going.
have a great 4th of july!!

              Flow problems

              Laura,

I haven't tried botox but after having a bladder sling put in back in November, I have had "flow" problems. I take Flomax AND Valium and it does seem to help. If you can self-cath, that is the best way to relieve the pressure. I use a pediatric catheter because the larger ones cause more spasms. I use an 8 fr.

I work so I can either take the Valium or pain pills - not both. Both makes me a little loopy. . .OK a lot loopy!!! The Valium, according to Dr. Robert Evans here in NC relaxes the pelvic muscles. If you can't self cath, I would go to a local doctor and ask them to show you how. It is a pain in the butt to do but once you get used to it. . .it is no big deal. I too "pushed" and it does cause a lot more discomfort - some good - some bad. Best of luck.

                thanks

I am taking valium 3 times a day plus the flomax. Dr. Moldwin doesnt believe that it is my bladder that is causing this but my pelvic muscles are so tight around my bladdder that its making it hard for me to pee. I will never self caf. that just would make it worse for me. I can pee i just cant empty my bladder so i either have to sit there till it comes out or go to the bathroom 10 times. But im hoping with taking the valium 3 times a day and the flomax which i start taking two tonight that it will somehow help.

By the way... what mg. are you on for valium?? Dr. moldwin has me on 2mg so 6mg a day...is that too little or is that right?? Although he put me on 2mg for some reason.

                Thanks again!!!!!!!!

I was on 3 mg once a day. But I cath. It's not as bad as you would think!!! In fact when I do cath, I drain everything out and then I put in lidocaine, heparin and sodium bicarb which is wonderful. It numbs the bladder so I don't have to deal with the pain.I have really bad spasms too. .. that is what stops my urine flow.

So did you stop taking the Cymbalta? That was another thing that my doc said would/could cause retention. But after being off of that for a few days caused some major mood swings - worse than PMS! and then I would just yell, "No one understands this pain!!!!" The yelling didn't help but it's just one of those I can't take it anymore pity parties.

The Flomax should help. They told me to take it at night too but I found that I had to get up a lot during the night to go to the bathroom so I started taking it during the day. He has you on 2 pills at night? That seems like a lot.

                    yeep

I was taken off the cymbalta and yes i had MAJOR mood swings....i was ****** at everyone and when there werent any bagles and my mom wouldnt go out and get any i turned into this monster it was stupid and nuts!! But thats all over with so im glad im off the cymbalta and the affects are gone..

I started with one flomax for 3 days then two after that and i do get up to go to the bathroom once every night. It isnt even 1 mg its less then that so i dont think that is a lot im not sure?!? How much are you on????

Hi Laura I take Flomax and I take .5mg once a day. I think it does help me. I will go either Dec or Jan for another Botox treatment in Miami. I hope you are doing okay.

                        ??

Were you on flomax before the botox or after??? Did you notice any retention after you had your botox?? I just think its a coincidence but i was just wondering. Thanks and good luck with your next treatment!!

                            wow

I think its really weird we both had problems with retention after botox. Dr moldwin thinks it has nothing to do with the botox but obviously it does and i think i might mention to him that you had the same problems after you had it done. Did your doctor that does the botox think you retention was due to the botox???? or did he think it had to do with something else?? I just find it really weird....and a coincidence that it happened after my 1st round and worse after my second round. It has to do with the muscles too i guess....my doctor also suggested that the pelvic muscles may be so tight around my bladder that.. that is what is causing the bladder retention. I wonder if anyone on this website who has had botox had the same problem. Do you know anyone else that has had the botox???? Thanks again for writing back.
I am taking .8mg of flomax before bedtime...it kinda sucks cuz it makes you get up more at night...im hoping that when i get used to it i can take it in the daytime.....the urgency with the flomax gets so bad that it hurts my bladder......does anyone else see that problem???
                            Well thanks again!

                              Flomax issue

                              Hi Laura,
I am new to these boards but have suffered from constant bladder/urethral pressure, and constant urgency/freguency/feeling of never being empty etc. for over a year...I was recently diagnosed by Dr. Moldwin as having IC due to a very thin bladder lining he saw during my hydrodistension..Anyway, at my appointment on Friday, Dr. Moldwin prescribed an 8 week course of Flomax as part of my therapy..I was told to take 2 tablets at night...Sure enough, I had the same reaction as you mentioned...I had get up to pee 3 times that night and I think the medicine really tightened my muscles as hardly anything came out, tho I felt like I had to go badly...(Usually I get up approx once at night and have a pretty normal flow amount.) Anyway, when I woke up in the morning I had TERRIBLE bladder pain..I've had it before, but not like this...The pain dispelled a bit after getting up, moving around and taking some Vicodin and Valium...also took a warm bath..Anyway the next night I tried skipping the Flomax. I slept through till dawn and there was no real bladder pain when I woke up, so it must have been the Flomax the night before....
Does Flomax increase urgency/frequency or maybe it does at first and then it settles down?? If it does increase it, it's not the drug for me as it would only be exacerbating my main problem... anyway just wanted to let you know I had the same reaction on the 1st night I took Flomax...!
                              Regards,
                              Kathy

                                Wishing you luck

                                Hi Laura,
It's Kathy again (the new member)....I also wanted to add that I really sympathize with all you are going through at such a young age...I am a mom of 3 kids..My oldest child is almost your age...I find it very hard to take care of my kids and do all the things that everyone need me to do while suffering from my symptoms...Also I sure understand that no one else "gets it"! My husband and my mom try hard to understand but unless you feel it yourself it's hard for them to understand how bad it really is...I know what you mean about it being difficult to explain to people..altho I/C seems to afflict many of us, it doesn't get much media attention, so people don't understand it or PFD, which I also have...(I have been pushing to get that last drop of "pee" out since I was about 18 (and that was many years ago!) I didn't realize I was hurting my muscles by doing that until I read Dr. Moldwin's writings on the internet!...Anyway I wanted to wish you best of luck in your recovery and hope all goes well for you! Dr. Moldwin is supposed to be the best from all I've heard, and he is easy to talk to!
                                Good luck,
                                Kathy
