  • 4th and last Botox treatment

It's now 4 1/2 months since my 4th Botox treatment. Although I only had 100 units compared with 100-300 for previous treatments, the side-effects this time have been the worst and the benefits have been nil. Since the treatment I have had trouble voiding which has greatly increased my nightly trips to the toilet as I still have the urge to go all the time particularly when I lie down. The last few weeks I have had a lot of pain and almost no sleep, getting up 10 or more times a night. I have also had constipation ever since the treatment and can only go with stool softeners or laxatives. My urologist said he has never seen Botox affect the bowel so I am having a colonoscopy this week to see if there is any other reason. I doubt it as the constipation has always happened when I've had Botox, only this time it is worse. I don't know what to try next as all the usual treatments have been totally ineffective. My urologist seems keen to try an interstim but it seems high risk from what I have read about it with a low success rate. He said he would do a bladder removal if it came to that. I don't think I'll be having the Botox again. At best it has given me a few weeks relief in the past but always only after a 2 month severe flare-up.
