    Birth Control + Interstim!

I was on 5 plus pain meds before the interstim though. Now all I need is the pill!

Most of mine are listed below. I looked all over the place, like Target, Walmart, etc, to find a tote bag that wasn't too big or too small to carry my pill bottles from room to room with me. I literally can't stand having my meds upstairs if I'm downstairs, or vice versa for fear that I might have pain and have to climb those stairs. Sounds ridiculous, but my life revolves around my medication schedule.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm taking more meds than you are.

I know how you feel...I'm only 43 and take more meds than my 70 year old mom does!

04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.

I take alot of drugs too and added elimiron and hydrozyxine too. The meds I take are:

        Premarin (menapose)
        Asacol (ulcerative colitus)
        diovan (high blood pressure)
        baby asprin
        simvastatin (high cholestrol)
        elimiron (IC)
        hydroxyzine (IC)
        Aloe Vera
For pain with IC I take:
        Prosed/DS
        Tramadol HCL-Acetaminophen
Plus prelief and Azo as needed

I was concerned too but I talked to my pharmacist and he assured me they were all fine to take together. One thing I learned was to always talk with your pharmacist about adding any meds, even if they are over the counter. He really is the authority when it comes to medication.

I know you hate taking more meds, but the two drugs you listed will help your IC. So you need to consider taking them. Talk to the pharmacist first. Let him/her see what all you are taking. I use the CVS drugstore because if you buy all your meds there, the computer checks and makes sure all the meds can safely be taken together.

        Hope I helped

            Elmiron 200mg twice a day

I'm on Elmiron, Urelle, Elavil, birth control pills, I also take Vicoden when I have some and have pain. I guess that's not too many but it still feels like alot.
                      Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage

                        Hi ladies.
I would say that if these meds help you, then it is a good thing. I wish to God I could take some meds, but I seem to be sensitive or allergic to all meds. I cannot take any anticholergenic meds( elevil, detrol, urelle etc..) due to my digestive disorder. I am already slow in that area, and these meds make this worse so I cannot take them at all. That goes for pain meds too, and they also cause me urine retention as well, so those are out for me. I wish my body would cooperate and let me be able to take a pain pill now and then, but no such luck there.
I know it sucks to be taking all these meds, but if they are helping you be able to function, then it is great. I mean, if you can get by without any of the meds, then that is good too. Only take what you need, that is my motto.
                        Jen
