  • CBD Oil

has anyone tried the CBD oils for IC? I'm talking the kind without THC. Sometimes even made from hemp not marijuana. I've talked with a few people who have said it works well for pain and muscle calming. I was thinking of trying some. I visited CO a few weeks back and tried a chewable gummy with negligible THC and a high dose of CBDs. It worked pretty good and didn't make me feel funny at all. My pain and urgency went away for a few hours at least. I'd like to try some CBD oils and see if I can replicate the experience. Was wondering if anyone had any input.

    Thanks

    Re: CBD Oil

I know several people who use it and have gotten a pretty good response. The problem is that a good CBD oil is very expensive especially if needed to be taken every day.
I have used it for headaches but it was a little too stimulating at a low dose, and if you take a higher dose it will be pricey, but more calming. Worth a try for sure. I'm in California so we have many choices for this along with medical marijuana- which by the way has been getting some good reviews for bladder pain.

      Re: CBD Oil

I'm all for it and am actually looking for a hemp CBD oil that we can sell on the ICN. It's classified as a food product when made of hemp. Even target and walmart sell it online!

hmm well I guess it's pretty new and not a lot of people have tried it. I went ahead and ordered some from bluebird botanicals. Someone on the FB IC page suggested it. It wasn't too expensive so I guess I'll be the guinea pig and let you know how it works out.

Hi earthlady, just wondering what you mean by saying it was too stimulating? Meaning it made you feel jittery? I am looking to try it for my migraines which have been very bad lately.

              Re: CBD Oil

The CBD oil I had was a very small amount in a vial that you used the size of a grain of rice twice a day. It was stimulating like I had drank a few cups of coffee. I was confused over why this happened but eventually spoke with someone who is an expert on the oil and was told that small dosages can be stimulating but a larger dose is more calming. I could not afford to keep buying it as one small vial was about $100.00 which I went thru pretty quickly. There may be different ways of manufacturing it and different strengths so it is important to buy from a very reputable distributer with good quality. I did not notice any effects for my headaches but I did notice an improvement in my mood and energy levels.

some strands are stimulating, some are calming. so you have to check out the diff't ones and probably nee da more calmer one...
also some strands have more CBDA which is anti inflammatory. i'm about to try that...

                        HI Jill,
I have found out that there are a lot of strands of CBD. Some are better for different things. I would imagine for IC we want one with CBDA which is anti-inflammatory. i'm about to start trying that.
CBGA helps with pain more so maybe good for people with more pain as well.

I was also told for very sensitive people the broad spectrum CBD's are often reactive.... (i'm a mast cell gal myself so react to a lot)

There is a lot of research to do on the CBD and it can get confusing as each distributer claims that their CBD is the 'best'.

absolutely! that is why i find a good CBD Facebook group really useful. the UK one has info on which strands help what i.e. inflammation, pain etc
and then advice on which brands are reputable, and which have more of which strand.
                            i'm trying a new one...

Well after a week of trying it I'd say it has potential. It def has a pretty quick calming and pain deadening effect. My urgency is less as well but It does feel like I had some coffee for a while. I'm going to keep messing with dosage and try and hone it in. I bought two different kinds from bluebird botanicals and I'll go back and forth and see if there is a difference. My Mom got some off my recommendation for her IC and loves it. says it helps her a lot and is grateful for me suggesting it. I've heard lots of other people say the same thing. My results seem to be more subtle and muted. I guess it's different for everyone. I will be researching more and looking into it. I will say the pain relief gummy I got in Colorado was much more effective. Might have been the slight amount of THC in it. Could be a different kind of CBD like mentioned above... Hard to tell. This is pretty new to me.
