  • Insurance reimbursement for Urgent PC???

    Hello Everyone,

I was very interested in trying Urgent PC, but my insurance doesn't reimburse for it at this time. I spoke with a representative at Uroplasty (company that manufactures Urgent PC) and was told that my doctor could try to get pre-authorization. If that is denied, then we could try to appeal the decision, also submit a letter of medical necessity.

Has anyone been through this route and offer any advice or suggestions?
I would greatly appreciate any input on the subject.

    Thank you,
    KarenIC

If you have a doctor willing to work with you on this, it's worth the effort. I once had my insurance company deny coverage for TMJ surgery, but with physician support, was able to get the approval.

Keep trying, it could be worth the hassle. I did several sessions of PTNS using Urgent PC and it helped me greatly. It did however take more than 6 sessions before I saw improvement, but it was well worth that wait.
Update! Feeling much better these days and no longer on any meds!

Pelvic pain began July 2008. Urinary frequency began in November of 2008. IC Doctor says I'm one of the worst frequency patients he has had.

Things that helped me the most: IC Diet, Elavil (30mg), Elmiron since June '09 (500mg/day).

Previously tried and quit: one series of six instillations, Neurontin, Ditropan, Oxytrol, electric stimulation to the pelvic floor, Desert Harvest Aloe, Cystoprotek and Flomax, Hydroxyzine (50mg), Alesse Birth control (this helped my period flares when my symptoms used to be bad), PTNS (I think this helped).

        Hi Donna and Musiclover,

Thanks so much for your input. I made an appointment with my doctor for June. Hopefully, she'll be willing to work with me so I can try Urgent PC.

        Take care,
        KarenIC
