  • Considering Interstim?

One of the hardest parts about being on-line is that we get swamped with conflicting information. Some people love it and it has helped them tremendously with frequency and/or urgency. Some people hate it.. because it didn't help them.

It's fair to say that noone can predict if it's going to help you. So, your job is to learn as much as you can about your treatment options. Talk with success stories. Talk with failures. Talk with your doctor about your concerns, if any.

Then, if you feel that you're comfortable with it.. then it's worth exploring further.

For those patients who have made the decision.. what were important factors for you? What was your final motivation for going for it?

The fact that there was a test trial made me very comfortable. I was able to have some confidence in whatever decision I would eventually make based on my trial run experience.

I could not handle the constant sleep deprivation. I felt sick all the time and I felt the surgery really was a small price to pay for the chance to get my life back.

I also found bladder instillations so miserable even though they helped a little (and yes I was numbed etc). I did not want to go through that over and over again, esp since it only helped a little and for a short time.

Finally, my doctor explained to me the science of nerve stimulation and how/why it could help me. It just made sense.

As you know I did everything I could with all different kinds of treatments and medication..
I was so ill, I just could not go on ..

Like Ruth I got the most wonderful results from the InterStim Trial..
It was so great for the four days with the trial in and what a different it made in my spirit as well..
So I knew with all the wonderful advice and imformation from my doctor, I did the InterStim Implant and I am so blessed with it each and every day of life.
