  • Dr moldwin visit/interstim etc......

I saw Dr moldwin on Friday, he suggested several things to me some I'm already doing and some I am not.
    1. I am taking baths but he wants me to use aveeno bath but I'm nervous it will irritate me
    2. He suggested an urgent pc I believe it's called that it goes in your ankle and stimulates a nerve. I researched and it seems this is for frequency I suffer retention.
    3.yoga
4.im inserting 10mg Valium vaginally twice a day he said that is fine to keep with.
    5. I started taking rapaflo 2 days ago I see a slight change but nothing great......anyone know how long till this med works?
    6. He feels I would be a good candidate for interstim.....this scares the cap out of me!!!! Who has interstim for retention does it work? Are the risks really bad??????
    7. He prescribed doxicyline as well since my urethra is always burning.

Any other suggestions for me I quit my job last week and I feel out of options. ...oh and I'm taking elmiron, ativan, just started desert harvest, and probiotics. My main problem by far is my retention......followed by my horrible burning raw feeling urethra..........help me out with some thoughts please!!!
    Current meds/treatments
Elmiron 300mg,Valium vaginal 10mg 2x per day, rapaflo 8mg, probiotics, coconut oil, pelvic floor therapy.

Hmmm . . First, I am sorry you are feeling this way. My heart goes out to you. I am wondering about using a muscle relaxant other than ativan for the retention. I find baclofen works when I have retention and it relieves the pressure. I am also considering the interstim. However, I am doing it for frequency. I would like to have a permanent solution rather than having to have botox every so many months. Who knows?

    Current Meds:
    1 Elmiron 100mg 3x a day
    1 Cimetidine 300mg 2x a day
    4 Gabapentin 300mg 3x a day (3600mg)
    1 - 2 Atarax 25mg at bedtime
    1 baclofen 10mg 3x a day as needed
200mg of Pyridium 3x a day (usually do in cycles - on for a week or two as needed) - I am very careful about this.
2 belladonna and opium suppositories as needed for pain daily.
Bladder instillations (Lidocaine, Heparin, & Sodium Bicarbonate)

I have tried but failed -
lidocaine instillations, heparin instillations, oxybutynin by mouth also called ditropan, tylenol 3s with coedine, cyclobenzaphrine, Ativan, vesicare, Oxytrol patches worked for 3 to 4 years and then failed, I tried Uracyst and had some success but my urologist felt that it was not successful so we moved on to trying something else. .
