A few ? !!!

I have a few questions about my Interstim.

1.) Do I need to turn it off or anything for dental work? Is it safe for dental work?

2.) Do I need to be turning the Interstim off for sex?

3.) Can I use my heating pad on my lower back or am I gonna fry the unit?

Think that's it for now. I'm sure Brat will come to the rescue, but she went to bed when all these questions popped into my head and I didn't want to forget them. Anyone have any answers?

I know you have to tell your dentist about the interstim.Ask your doc to give you the book on interstim.It has alot of info in it.I will look for my book and check on this.
I have one more test then I get my interstim.

Hi Kim--

Thanks for responding. I've flipped through my book before and didn't find anything. My dentist does know about the Interstim, but doesn't really understand it I don't think. I just told him I can't really have anything like MRIs or Diathermy.

As far as I know you are fine for teeth cleaning, any type of surgery turn it of.

2.) Do I need to be turning the Interstim off for sex?
NOPE I keep mine one, but my husband likes to tell me its a built in vibrator... MEN!

I have used my heating pad on my lower back, upper butt lol, but when it got to warm I took it off, I do know you cannot have any type of medical heat treatments I will look further into it.

Glad I asked you some questions, had an ultrasound today and knew to turn off the interstim. Grrrrrrr...that was a painful ultrasound, and tomorrow a cleaning bright and early. Glad when this week'll be over!!

When I had mine the only question I never got answered was using a tanning bed....everything else was safe except the MRI and the Diathermy. Oh, we also had some people coming thru the neighborhoods trying to rip older people of they money with matresses filled with magnants (a no-no for interstimers) and the tens unit was also a no-no.

I did make sure that I carried my card with me all the time incase I were to have gotten into a car accident.
