  • Interstim trials and new doctor in Texas

Its been months since Ive been on my PC. Its been really hard. Been thru 2 interstim trials and no significant sucess. Uro is giving up on it for me. BUT my pain dr is awesome and contacted a dr in Texas who I will be seeing after the new year. I am not fully informed yet but they are going to try something else on me!? And with a different technique. Has anyone been to a doctor in TX that is "famous" ?? for IC and medtronics implants?? I THINK his name is Dr Kenneth Alo. If any of you know about him or a different good dr in Houston, will you please post some info for me? I would REALLY appreciate it!

PS: My email is not working right now so if Cindy reads this (in Florida), I am not ignoring you I just cant "talk" right now. Hope you are well and wish everyone a good day through the holidays! Ange

Ange, are you considering this trial implant, from this Houston doctor, for pain or frequency? I have heard of him, but have never been treated by him. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have any other questions. Not sure if I can answer. Happy Holidays. Gentle Hugs, Tx-Brenda

Brenda, Thank you so much for your offer to help. I cannot use my email right now so the message boards are my only method of contact for now. I am seeking pain and frequency relief! According to my excellent pain management DR here, I am in the 40,000 worst cases of IC. I am on heavy narcoticvs 24/7 and go to pee constantly, sometimes only a few TBSP every 10 minutes. I have not had a decent nights sleep since I got sick over 2 years ago. My pian dr here found the dr in TX and consulted him. This just happened so I dont have all the info for what they are planning for me. Hope you had a nice holiday. Any and all info in response to this message is greatly appreciated! Hugs back to you, Ange

Thank you so very much Judy! I am not sure if this is what the drs are considering for me but it may be! I will know more this friday when i get acupuncture. My pain dr is the acupt. dr and is the one who spoke with dr alo. I was wondering what hospital he uses so i can look on the map. I have a cousin in Houston and she can help us when we get to TX. What is you weather like right now? I am so glad it helped your pain. I have been in pain 24/7 since Nov./ December of 1998! I can relate. I have so many questions but cant sit long to write. My email is not working right now. I appreciate your offer to email you and I will try to fix mine so we can "talk". You and Brenda are sooooo kind to help me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul! I am sooo nervous about the flight. I used to like traveling but since I got IC I only go to drs and grocery store. Once We drove to my aunts 60th anniversary party and I mapped the toilets to stop every 20mins or so. It was a really tough trip! I maqxed out my pain pills and still was in agony. The next day was a blur. Another question, does anyone have experience with valium. I am given it sometimes before a surgery to keep me calmer. I was wondering if it would help for the trip? Hugs and more hugs to you both! Ange

Hi ladies! I found out that Dr. Alo is the dr I am going to see! I called his office and spoke with Sharon? and got things moving. Do you live far from his office? I asked that I fly out to get evaluated one day and if I am a good candidate, get the trial in the next day. I was told I would have to stay in the hospital/medicenter one night for the test implant and one night if I get the permanent implant. I was told I can go in on a Tuesday and fly home with the test implant on Friday. After 7-10day my pain dr here can remove the test implant and tell Dr Alo my results. Can you please tell me how you had to keep a diary of your test implant results? I want to document the way i am prior. I will also ask the dr but i am curious and i wont talk to the office for a few more days. Also can you recomend any good hotels nearby? I am hoping for a suite so my parents can be near me if I need them, and still have some privacy. I hope you had a nice and pain free or at least a low pain day New Year! Do you take any pain meds even with the implant? Did you take narcotics before it? I appreciate any info you feel you want to give me. I hope maybe our dialogue may help others too. Thanks again! Hugs galore! Ange

Hi Brenda, it is I again. Can you tell me if the ANS on the other post is the same thing I might be getting as described below? I read the other post and want to hear all sides to the "story" before I commit myself. By the way, I get bad back pain just from the IC in addition to the pelvic pain. (((Hugs))) Ange
