Shmoopy,
There is a link on here that talks about what your doc was talking about. I think he means the INTERSTIM. You can read a little bit about it here:
http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/nerve.html#Surg
You can also find information here:
http://www.seekwellness.com/incontin...tim.htm#whatis
You can also visit the website that makes the INTERSTIM.

You may want to visit the message board regarding Interstim:

Good Luck to you!!

It sounds like he may be talking about the interstim --- I suggest you make a list of your questions and take it with you to your appointment so you can get some answers from him. And write down the answers too --- it's soooo easy to forget when you are stressed.
Warm hugs,
Donna

Has anybody heard of this?
I just went to see a new urologist and he is going to burn off the lesions on the wall of my bladder. I have seen 4 other urologists in the past and they have never suggested this. Does anybody know if this does any good and how painful is it? Does it have to keep on being done? He also suggested having something implanted in my back to stimulate the nerves? Unfortunately I was overwhelmed and I did not ask any questions about this. I did not even ask the name. Does anybody know what I am talking about. I have had very bad experiences with urologists in the past and I am very nervous trying any new procedures but I was diagnosed over 15 years ago and it is alot worse now then it was then (I had my first cysto at the age of 4 and I am now 34). Is the thing they put in your back permanent? Does it help with the pain or just the frequency? I would really appreciate any information.
I have been on 100mg of Amitriptiline for quite a while now for both pain and depression and the IC Message Boards have helped me more with the depression than any medicine has. It is so nice hearing the success stories, it gives me a bit of hope.
Thank you
